The dream of the dreams
The World Title conquered by Mineirinho and the Final of Pipe Masters being disputed by two
Brazilians was the best result of all times, the biggest nightmare of foreigner surfers and the biggest dream of Brazilians.
Mineirinho was the great world champion not only by his quality and hability, but also because
having a feature the judges like: the competitivity. Or how we say, he has strength and won at base of
strenght.
By the way Filipe Toledo, that also fought for the title, spent time to choose the waves in the
beginning of the heat the was eliminated, the Sea was very difficult and than the title has gone.
But on Wednesday, that we had the heat of the year, with Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater and John John
Florence and wonderful waves. It was a show of surfing and would call the Gold Heat. Kelly was
magic, John John took tubes of backside almost impossible. Mick chose the best waves and won the
heat. Yesterday the Sea went down, but was very difficult to choose the good waves and the strong
wind. The heat of Mineirinho with Josh Kerr was with waves of low quality, low scores, but
the Brazilian persevered, competed well and turned over in the last wave.
At first Semifinal between Medina and Mick Fanning, the Australian was very good in the first
wave and scored 7.33 points and surfed good tubes, while the Brazilian surfed well, but did not
have a good selection of waves. At last wave, he used his mortal arm: an aerial full rotation
and turned over the heat at final minute. He classified himself to decision and took the title of Hawaiian Triple Crow.
At second Semifinal, Mineirinho and Mason Ho surfed a heat with weak waves, low scores, scrambled sea and strong wind. It was a suffering dispute. If he would win, he would be the champion, and if would lose, the title was of Mick. But Mineirinho led all time. At end, the title was more than deserving.
Aloha!
