2015 OVERVIEW surfworldtour. blogspot.com

2015 OVERVIEW surfworldtour.blogspot.com
---------------------------------------------------------

I from a small town close to Porto Alegre/RS, the Southern state of Brazil.
Since 2011, when the stage of World Circuit of Surfing moved from Imbituba/Santa Catarina to Arpoador/Barra da Tijuca,I have often traveled to Rio de Janeiro, RJ.

DECEMBER, 2014
-----------------------
I arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Dec. 13th, for covering the Final Stage of World Circuit of Surfing when Gabriel Medina(BRA) was the World Champion -the first Brazilian in the top of the elite...
In Rio, "surf" has much more space in Media, papers, television, besides the stage in Brazil to be disputed here.
After the posts of new World's Champion of surfing on the blog...

                                                 Extra -Newspaper -Rio de Janeiro/Brazil

It was time to have a break...
I passed the New Year Eve in Copacabana beach; they say it the biggest outdoor Reveillon in the World...
It was so nice, with fireworks- 30 minutes straight on - Ocean Liners on the shore  with the lights on, are so nice to enjoy...
I took many photos and videos too.
Later on, I went to a Bar at Atlantica Ave, many people around, everything was so beautiful...

2015
====
JANUARY
--------------
After Pipeline stage in Hawaii, I had my vacation all January along, in Barra da Tijuca at a Lodging -Pousada. It is so nice, after the breakfast: fruit, juice, coffee, sandwiches..
I prepared some Digital Art.

In Dec.2014 I knew an artist in Copacabana, I took the photos of her canvas and digitalized...
I sent the digitalized art to her by e-mail, and she liked so much my work.
She opened a huge "window" in my mind; after this I started to prepare Digital Art for myself...
I always loved to work with images...I love everything that is beautiful: the Nature, the Mountains, the Birds, the Sky, the Stars, The Sea, The Waves, The Sun, The Moon...
I hate to watch ugly things: garbage on the streets, pollution in the Sea, people suffering around, fires, and so on...
When I was a Kid I grow up in big farmstead; so I loved to stay in the wood, with the birds, on the trees, most times alone...
I prepared some Digital Art from my own photos, and took them to print, they were so nice...

After the Digital Art, I used to have the lunch around 2:00 pm, and rested for while, and later on, walked on  the beach...

In the Summer, the sea is flat, with no waves, only if the climate turned over, kind of storm...
After the Sunset arrived, I went to the Pousada, prepared my coffee; I love to drink "coffee" - a pure and strong coffee.
When get dark, I love to work in my Notebook, my "closest friend", it always with me, wherever I am...I also like to watch movies for praticing my English...

Late night, around 10:00 pm, I used to have cheeseburger and a juice, at same Restaurant...

At weekend, Fridays, Saturdays I used to go out at night; It was so nice, I knew and make some friends, they call me: Gaúcho - I have a different and strong accent, the "cariocas" -locals from Rio- realized this in seconds... I liked to go around in many Bars, at Olegário Maciel, drank some Heinekens, and went back to Pousada not so late at dawn.

Sometimes I think to myself, perhaps this vacation in Barra da Tijuca, was one of my "best" times, lately; I had already traveled a lot, lived in San Francisco, California, there was nice too; in Chicago, Illinois; Miami, Florida; New York City; Brussels, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Milano, Barcelon, Paris, London; but Barra da Tijuca is unforgettable for me...

I also liked to go to Quebramar; there always has a breeze, good energy too, the people from Rio de Janeiro, always treated me so well; so I feel "at home".

FEBRUARY
----------------
I was a quite tired, and could not sleep well at night, because was so hot...In my state is not so hot...I lost many pounds...but was so nice.
So ,on Feb. 9th, I went back home.
When I came back from the trips to Rio, some friends of hometown played with me: You do not eat in Rio, do you???
I have breakfast, lunch, and snack at night...But, drink much more water, and walk much more too...
I arrived home, stay with my friends - many are skating and surfing athletes and fans, and always asked me about the WCT, Gabriel Medina. Filipinho, Mineirinho; they know I working with.

MARCH
--------------
I rested, set up my luggage, and make the arrangements to go to Rio de Janeiro, in Fall, my favorite Season- of the winds, waves, and mainly Swells....
On March 21st, I traveled to Rio again, by bus-the company had a good promotion price from Porto Alegre to São Paulo.
From São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, I always travel by 1001 Bus Lines, take six hours trip, with only a stop...
I came because I would like to make some posts about the starting of Fall in Brazil...(see the posts on the blog)
On the next day I arrived in Rio, I went to Barra da Tijuca, to take some photos, and mainly to see the Sea: was higher, with light wind, the swells were upcoming I felt...

I also went to Arpoador beach, where there was a stage of World Circuit in 2012;

I think the Sea was higher in Arpoador at that moment than in Barra da Tijuca; are different peaks...

APRIL
-----------
I stayed in Rio till Easter times..
I like to prepare my own things. I bought all the materials in Rio, created the design of the shorts: floral style, but was hard to find anybody to sew them.

I prepared myself many surfing "wax" with the name and logo of my blog/site to give to the top surfers in upcoming stage in Rio, as a gift from Brazil.

I also prepared the design of the T-shirts of the blog, to wear in the events...

MAY
---------

Everything was ready: wax, shorts, t-shirts, banners, my equipment so it was time to travel...
On May 7th, I was going up to Rio de Janeiro, by bus again, the same company, till São Paulo, and than to Rio, by 1001.
I arrived in Rio, on May 8th, at night. In May gets dark early here in Rio. There is no Summer time anymore.
On Saturday afternoon, I went to Barra da Tijuca by bus, to take some photos of the Alternative structure of the Stage in Posto 6, there the conditions are diferent from Posto 2.
And later on I went walking  to Posto 2, and the Stage had a huge structure. Now the main sponsor change to OI, Telephone and Cellular operator in Brazil, besides other sponsors: Jeep, Corona, Air Portugal, Coppertone, Guaraná Antarctica; Gabriel Medina(BRA)was the World Champion.I took some photos of the banners of the blog and site.

O GLOBO Newspaper -Rio de Janeiro-Brazil

Filipe Toledo(BRA)gave a surfing show, with aerials, and defeated the Australian Bede Durbdige(AUS) at final, with many people on the beach.- so crowded...
Courtney Conlogue(USA)overcame the South African Bianca Buitendag(SAF), and it was the biggest surfing event I have been in my life...
The girls are so nice, I already took photos from all top surfers..
After the stage in Rio, I prepared an overview of both - F. toledo(BRA) and C. Conlogue(USA)-(check the posts) because I realized both were in good shape, despite of little experience in Finals, and might be champions of the season.

When Miguel Pupo(BRA)a top surfer of the elite, thrown his Jersey , I had luck and took it..

JUNE
----------
In June I came back home to my birthday on July, and rest for while...
I have to  work on my site...
The winter is taugh in my state, RS: cold, wind, raining a lot, sometimes stormy; The Sun, sometimes does not show up for days, a week...

JULY
--------

Finally, my birthday arrived and I prepared the famous "barbecue" for my friends, some drinks, beers, listen music, and watch surfing movies...I love movies, I had  many DVDs.
Once, I watched a movie about surfing in Hawaii and the surfer said: When Sunset comes it is time to "think about";
I would say, when my birthday comes it is time to think about my life, my way, my future, and so on...

Mick Fanning(AUS)surffered a shark attack in Jeffreys Bay  in South Africa .

photo by Fantastico -TV program-REDE GLOBO

AUGUST
------------
This month was the worst for my state: strong raining, floods and many cities and families suffered
 a lot..
It was sad...
I think my state is quite sad, grey, mainly in the Winter maybe because this I like to travel around, some years ago,to Santa catarina; now, to Rio de Janeiro. In the future,Costa Rica, California, Hawaii.
Adriano de Souza(BRA)was surfing very well and was in the top of  Ranking so I prepared a Overview about him, that always attended me so well since  the stages in 2009 in Praia da Vila, Santa Catarina(see the post)

SEPTEMBER
------------------
Finally in september my site was on the Internet...
I became so happy, because now the "lay out" was nice. I developed everything for myself. I have to make some adjustments for 2016 season..

www.surfworldtour.com

OCTOBER
--------------

                                                               Zero Hora Newspaper/RS-Brazil

On October, Gabriel Medina won the stage in Hossegor(see the post)in France and still alive in World Title Race.
At final of October, Filipe Toledo(BRA)won the stage in Peniche, in Portugal.
Than Brazil will have three top surfers in the battle for 2015 World Title.
So I started make my arrangements to go to Rio de Janeiro in November, because I had the feeling; Brazil might have another World Champion of Surfing.

I bought the airplane ticket to November 17th, for arriving rested, without any delay, and follow the dispute of World Title of the Girls, between Carissa Moore(HAW) and Courtney Conlogue(USA) and than the Pipe Masters- the most famous stage in World circuit of Surfing.

NOVEMBER
-----------------

On November 17th, my flight departed at 7:00 am from Porto Alegre, with connection in São Paulo, and the aircraft landed in Santos Dumont airport, in Rio de Janeiro, around 10:00 a.m.
The distance of 940 miles by bus take 24/26 hrs, and by plane, non-stop flight from POA to RIO, the standard time is an hour and fifty minutes...
The women's Final started in November 21st, in MAUI, Hawaii. So I worked straight on the stage -TARGET MAUI PRO, every days till, the Hawaiian Carissa Moore(HAW) clinched the World title by the second time.
This stage had a waiting period of 9 days, what maybe let Courtney Conlogue(USA)under pressure, and she was defeated by Coco Ho(HAW).
There was no news about the Women's event in Maui, in the Newspapers in Rio de Janeiro, maybe because Brazil has just a top surfer, Silvana Lima(BRA).

DECEMBER
----------------
Later, on December 8th, would began the last stage of the season -Pipe Masters. The newspapers had news about this event, soon in Sunday, Dec. The Globo, has two page in Sports, dedicated to. Also, Extra and Lance newspapers, almost everydas had news about this stage because there were three Brazilians on the battle: Filipe Toledo(BRA)-2nd in the Ranking ; Adriano de souza(BRA)-3rd in the Ranking;and Gabriel Medina(BRA)the current champion-in 4th position.

In Hawaii the competition started around 8:00 am - 4:00 pm in Rio de Janeiro...
I liked to see the heats, broadcast by WSL..and make my own notes, after 8 WCTS on the beach, I have some experience to understand better the heats, the competition at all.

When the event finished, sometimes stayed -Stand by ; I waited till the WSL post -Next Call -7:30 am HST . Than I prepared the posts with results updated. In Women's competition(less heats) in Maui, I updated the results heat by heat; with some minutes of delaying.

During the Pipe Masters event, I worked a lot, often till 2:00/3:00 am...and next day woke up 6:00/7:00 am, start my work(with pleasure!)again...
After shaving, and a long cold shower for recovering my strengths I used to go to Central do Brasil(bus, underground, train) to have a juice -pineapple juice with mint - and after a pure coffee with croissant of ham and cheese, very tasty.
.
After the breakfast, I bought the papers of Rio de Janeiro , Lance, Extra, O Globo,  and went to Computing Laboratory of Estácio - one of the biggest Universities in Brazil- where I have fast Internet -broadband...to prepare the versions, see the news on WSL -World Surf League.
I used to work on the Internet till 3.00 pm straight on..Than I used to have lunch, and came back to the hotel..
I like to watch the heats in my room with more focus and make my own appointments. I used Wi-Fi connection, but it was Ok. Next season, I will buy all new equipment: Cellular, Camera, Notebook, adapters to get better signal, and so on...
I provide many versions on my blog, from papers, articles related on the Internet, and for the first time, version of TV News- Jornal Nacional - one of the most respected News programs in Brazilian television. I became so happy because I do everything by myself, by my ideas, by my feeling...

RESOURCES
-----------------
I started in 2008, with few resources: the camera resolution was the lowest, I could shot videos with only 25 seconds;
I travel to Garopaba by bus, I used woke up at 5:00 am to go to Imbituba -60 km -an hour by bus.
When I arrived in Imbituba, I went to the famous bakery in downtown, to have coffee, and pastry, sometimes I met, Mr. Sebastian Rojas, photographer of Fluir, he always was nice with me. I desire all the best for him.

During the events I only make a break to have a hotdog or a snack, and soft drink, and soon went back to the shore, close the surfers, to the event, I did not even want lose a wave, because any wave can be decisive.

When the event was over, sometimes I went running to Bus station to get the last bus to Garopaba; I arrived at Pousada, had a shower, went out to have dinner and later on, slept, and woke up next day, so early early again, to get the first bus to Imbituba, 6:00 am...

Here in Rio de Janeiro, is not different, during the events, I stayed in downtown, woke up so early, went to Central, got the Bus to Barra da Tijuca;
On the break of midday, I used to go "Padaria da Barra",-a famous bakery -frequented by local surfers - on Olegario Maciel St.- to have a "joelho"(sandwich) of ham and cheese and a "refresco"- juice.

Unfortunatelly it is impossible, but I wish to be the first guy to arrived on the events...

As our "new" Great World Champion of Surfing, Adriano de Souza(BRA)said on a interview  to TV-(see the post..)
-"It is an honour so, I have been started on a form so humble, so difficult, but this makes me strong"

VACATION

After three trips POA-RIO/RIO-POA by bus and last one by airplane to the last stage in                     Pipeline ,Hawaii. It is time to have a break!!!
I will pass the New Year Eve tomorrow night in Copacabana beach as last year.
And on January 04th, 2016, I am going to Barra da Tijuca, my favorite beach for resting for while, walking on the beach, recovering my strenghts...
As Maya Gabeira(BRA) -surfer of big waves said:"The Sea is always there waiting for me."

Good Vibes to 2016 season to all community of surfing around the world.....

OI RIO PRO -Postinho - Barra da Tijuca - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil - May 11th/22nd

Paper Metro -Rio de Janeiro -Brazil

    Metro - page 16 -Esporte -www.readmetro.com

Rio de Janeiro, Monday, May11th, 2015

    Filipe Toledo
Also known as Filipinho, the 20-year surfer is the big bet for the future of Brazilian surfing. With 1,73m , he has his power at air manuevers. Born in Ubatuba, São Paulo, he has soccer as one of his hobbies.

    May 11th
On the first day, the event was "lay day", cloudy with 1-to-2foot waves and light wind.
Gabriel Medina(BRA)a surfer of Maresias(SP)is the current World Champion and the event was the biggest surfing championship in Brazil.
There were many people in Postinho - Barra da Tijuca, from all country around and overseas too.

    May 12th

    ROUND 1
    heat 10
    F. TOLEDO(BRA)16.27 X K. Andino(USA)11.93 x A. Melling(AUS)8.40
There were many people at Postinho,so it was hard to work taking pictures and film the event but I tried to do my best as always.
    F. TOLEDO(BRA)defeated two good surfers, A. Melling(AUS)with very experience, and K. Andino(USA)that disputed the BILLABONG RIO PRO Final last
    year.
So he went direct to Round 3.

    May 15th
    ROUND 3
    heat 2
    F. TOLEDO(BRA)15.60 X 11.34 W. Dantas(BRA)
So he went to Round 4.

    ROUND 4
    Heat 1
    F. TOLEDO(BRA)17.83 x M. Banting(AUS)13.57 x J. J. Florence(HAW)7.74
"Filipinho" defeated two good surfers at this heat, M. Banting(AUS)that defeated K. Slater(USA)11 times World champion,
    and J. J. Florence(HAW) 2012 BILLABONG RIO PRO Champion.
So he went direct to Quarterfinals as in 2013, but this time was different!!!

    May 16th
    Quarterfinals
    Heat 1
    F. TOLEDO(BRA) 15.00 x 11.50 R. Christie(NZL)
He defeated R. Christie(NZL)a very strong surfer that adapted very well to the heavy waves of Postinho.
Maybe it was the harder dispute for F. Toledo(BRA).
So this this time he went to Semifinals.

    May 17th
    heat 1
    F. TOLEDO(BRA)15.93 X 6.34 I. Ferreira(BRA)
"Filipinho" surfed very well with airs and defeated the second Brazilian at competition.

    FINAL F. TOLEDO(BRA)19.87 X 14.70 B. Durbidge(AUS)
    "Filipinho" defeated B. Durbidge(AUS)with his edge maneuvers that defeated F. TOLEDO(BRA)in 2014 Round 3.
All top surfers are very good athletes at maneuvers but depends on waves condictions of each stop, each surfer has his own surfing style
and adapt himself better to the waves: high, heavy, tube, box, and so on...

    F. TOLEDO(BRA)is surfing very well this year, and alredy was the champion in Gold Coast(AUS)and he is in the second position in WSL ranking.

At OI RIO PRO, FILIPE TOLEDO(BRA)gave a surfing show to the world and to everybody on the beach.
Finally I would like to point out Bede Durbidge's performance and elegance. He is in the tour for a long time
and recognized -by his words in the podium - that would be so hard to face FILIPE TOLEDO(BRA)in the FINAL.
I know Bede Durbidge(AUS)since my first "WCT"surf championship in 2008 on "Praia da Vila" in Imbituba(SC),when
he defeated Jeremy Flores(FRA)and was the champion, he is so kind with everybody on the beach, attending for a picture or an autograph,
and so on. Bede Durbidge(AUS)has many fans in Brazil.

    ---
The most famous name of Brazilian surfing in Big Waves, and with wide experience in Hawaii, the surfer of Pernambuco Carlos Burle bet in the bichampionship of Medina, but confesses that cheers for Adriano.
-Medina is the most dangerous, because has great talent and is the guy more complete. I would bet on him by surprise effect and by his capacity and talent unquestionable, but would like that Adriano would win. He deserves a lot.

Let's check out what Gabriel Medina(BRA) said after the Round 1 -PIPE Masters, Hawaii.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boas Ondas para Medina e Fanning -Extra -Newspaper -Jogo Extra page 6 -Friday -Dec. 11th, 2015
    ----

It was difficult to find the good waves, and the wind perturbed. I wait to going on. I am feeling well, at a different situation of last year. I am not worried with other guys that dispute the title. I just want to surf well. If happens, happened. I do not want to put pressure on myself, just want to surf.
-said Medina, that needs to win the stage and to cheer for a combination of results to conquer the title

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I read his words in the Extra Newspaper to prepare the Version in English- I thought to myself - Gabriel Medina will surf very well without pressure, and he gave a surfing show in Pipeline.

He said this after the Round 1 and advanced to Round 3; Round 4; advanced to the Quarterfinals; to Semifinals and ultimately to the FINAL.

Gabriel Medina is an exceptional surfer, as we can check his performance in Pipeline:

THE AUSTRALIANS SURFERS INJURED IN PIPELINE OVERVIEW by - surfworldtour.blogspot.com -

THE AUSTRALIANS SURFERS INJURED IN PIPELINE OVERVIWEW by surfworldtour.blogspot - Paulo Piqueres -
    --------------------------------------------------

    2008 - THE FIRST -                 HANG LOOSE WCT BRASIL - October 28th / November 5th, 2008

My debut in WCTs was in 2008, in Praia da Vila, Imbituba-Santa Catarina.
Bede Durbidge(AUS) won that stage over Jeremy Flores(FRA).

                                                             Bede Durbidge(AUS)

I had luck because I took my first  photo of  a Champion of the stage.

Owen Wright(AUS)was not in the elite of Surfing.

    ---------------

    2009 - THE GIFT   -                 Hang Loose Pro 2009 Santa Catarina June 27th/July 5th,2009

My second WCT was in Praia da Vila again, the great champion Kelly Slater(USA) won that stage over Adriano de Souza(BRA) exactly on birthday -July 3rd.
I bought a T-shirt and a cap of the event for myself, and became so happy...
The lucky cap, I only use in the stages of World Circuit of surfing, and I will always wear it...

Bede Durbidge(AUS)always so nice let me took a photo of him.

Owen Wright(AUS)was still not in the World Circuit of Surfing.

    ---------------
    2010 -   THE PASSION         - BILLABONG PRO 2010 - Santa catarina Brazil -Imbituba - April 23rd/May2nd,2010

In my third WCT, the event was sponsored by Billabong, and in that stage Kelly Slater(USA) was defeated in the final by Jadson Andre(BRA).

I took a photo of Kelly Slater(USA)in the guard-rails, with his focused eyes in lineup.
Later on, I guess in November of 2013, that photo was in the first page of the site waves.com, one of the best surfing sites in Brazil.

Finally in this stage I knew Owen Wright(AUS), as Bede Durbidge(AUS)he so nice with everybody. I took many photos of him, in Praia da Vila, where was easier to work than in Rio de Janeiro beaches.

He surfed very well, and reached the Semifinals.
    Semifinals
    heat 2
    K. Slater(USA) 13.50 x 10.56 O. Wright(AUS)

The children loved Owen Wright(AUS)style, and they cheered for him!!!
    Owen, Owen, Owen,....

I taught English Language in High School for 12 years, I do not know "how" but the children said corretly his name: OWEN, which  is a different name for us in Brazil.
In Praia da Vila beach was so different, the beach is just for surfing...There is no traffic, noise, around, and the waves are amazing.
The entrance for surfing is close to the cliffs, it is so nice..

                                              Owen Wright(AUS)

                                              Bede Durbidge(AUS) with tha fans.

    2011 - The  TRANSITION      -BILLABONG RIO PRO - May 11/22th, 2011

The stage moved to Rio de Janeiro.Than I bought airplane ticket, because is farway 940 miles from Porto Alegre,Rio Grande do Sul, the Southern state in Brazil. I was a quite lost in this huge town, Rio de Janeiro, even in WCT event. The first week was off the competition, only  Women's - for the first time in Brazil.

Anyway, I went to the beach in Barra da Tijuca-Posto 4, and took photos of  Bede Durbidge(AUS) and Owen Wright(AUS) both, after a surfing session.

Owen Wright(AUS)reached to Quarterfinals in this stage, as follows:
    heat 4
    Adriano de Souza(BRA)14.23 x 14.10 Owen Wrigth(AUS)

Adriano de Souza(BRA) won this stage over  Taj Burrow(AUS), one of the surfers in current elite of surfing, that won more events in Brazil.

2012    -THE BEST                 -BILLABONG RIO PRO   - May 9th/20th, 2012

This year I prepared myself better, find a better place to stay in Rio de Janeiro. I did myself a banner of the blog and took some photos in Arpoador beach, and in Barra da Tijuca (the stage moved to Posto 2 -Postinho).I also visited Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Pontal, Macumba, and "Prainha" beaches .Prainha beach is very beautiful, it seems a paradise. I was feeling more comfortable in the WCT too.
Unfortunately on this season in Brazil, Owen Wright(AUS)did not advanced over the Round 3
    heat 1
    Tiago Pires(POR) 10.40 x 6.40 Owen Wright(AUS)

                                              OWEN WRIGHT(AUS)

Barra da Tijuca - Postinho - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

Arpoador Beach - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

2013        THE SITE                 BILLABONG RIO PRO 2013

I created the site surfworldtour.com, registered the domain. I did myself the banner. But the site was just for a while on the Internet.. I did not like the lay out, but I continued to work in the blog. Writing scripts in HTML language to the web. Sites are more difficult to deal with, because I have to sent the files to the server, and I did not have so experience. Sometimes the uploading is unstable though. My site files have many images.

Owen Wright(AUS)did not come to the stage in Brazil -unfortunatelly he was injured in the season.

2014  THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS             BILLABONG RIO PRO 2014

In my 4th WCT in Rio de Janeiro, Owen Wright(AUS)competed.

The stage was -Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour/ASP -Association of Surfing Professionals.

Samsung promoted an Interview on the beach with Australian surfers Owen Wrigth(AUS) Adam Melling(AUS), Dion Atkinson(AUS), Mick Fanning(AUS), Bede Durbidge(AUS).  At the interview, the Australian surfers gave theirs autographs on the posters of the event to fans. I said - Hi ! to the Australian surfers.

I keep it carefully in my room at my house in RS-Brazil, I have a private Surf Bar only for my friends,at basement of my house. At Surf Bar, there many posters of the surf events since 2006, after my father dead and I  my life turned away...

Owen Wright(AUS)surf well  and reached the Round 5, but was defeated by F. Toledo(BRA)

2015  the biggest               BILLABONG RIO PRO

In this stage, Owen Wright(AUS) surfed very well, in Barra da Tijuca beach, and I took many photos of him on the shore, before competing.

After five events in Rio de Janeiro, I learned many things, I already know some people, professional photographers, the legend, Mr. Sebastian Rojas.I have more experience now. I like to take photos of the surfers on the shore, when they are going or leaving the water. But I never perturbed them at the concentration or anything else.

Owen Wright(AUS) surfed very well the heavey waves of Postinho -Barra da Tijuca -Rio de Janeiro-Brazil, but was defeated at Quarterfinals by his compatriot Matt Wilkinson(AUS)

Bede Durbidge(AUS)surfed very well with edge manuevers on the heavy waves of Postinho and went to Final, against Filipe Toledo(BRA)
Filipe Toledo(BRA)defeated Bede Durbidge in this stage in Rio de Janeiro.

    2015 Billabong Pipe Masters Hawaii

I was happy because Owen Wright(AUS)had some chances to be the Champion this year despite to need some combination of results.

When I see the Round 1, I realized that Owen was out of competition, and  replaced by Mason Ho(HAW)so I thought to myself: Something should  be happened with Owen Wrigh(AUS)otherwise he would be in the heat 2. But only on Friday, I read the News in Rio de Janeiros  papers about the accident with the Australian surfer.

At this famous stage, I am doing Versions everydays from the papers of  Rio de Janeiro: O Globo, Extra, Lance; TV programs: Jornal Nacional -Rede Globo -Rio de Janeiro-Brazil, and some related articles from the Intenet.

I became so upset after know about Owen Wrigth(AUS)accident before the stage in a surfing session: and Bede Durbidge(AUS)in the heat 2 of Round 3.  But they would be recovered soon for sure, both are  tough guys.

The Australians surfers are so admired in Brazil, and for "sure" the surfing fans wish theirs prompt recuperation, including the children of Imbituba/Santa Catarina that loved them.

I "from heart", wish to BEDE DURBIDGE(AUS) and OWEN WRIGHT(AUS)a fast recovery, and back stronger to the next season in 2016.
