-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEARCHING THE 2017 WORLD TITLE OF SURFING by Paulo Piqueres - surfworldtour.blogspot.com
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The dispute for 2017 World Title of surfing continues between  the same top 10 surfers however some of them change their positions after CT# 8 - Hurley Pro at Trestles as follows:

Top 3
------
Julian wilson(AUS)advanced from top 5 afer reached the Round 4.

Top 7
------
Filipe Toledo(BRA)the surfer of Ubatuba(SP) was the "highlight" since the beginning of event in the state of California; He won all the heats, of the Rounds 1/3/4/;Quarterfinals/Semifinals and the Final . He is living in California now with his family; an he is surfing with great confidence and style; It was his second "win" in the season exactly after the suspension of complaining by interference noted in Saquarema, BRA/04..He advanced from 9th position to 7th position in the Ranking Jeep Leaderboard, and now is 11,400 points from the leader, the South African -Jordy Smith(RSA).

Top 8
-------
Gabriel Medina(BRA),the surfer of Maresias, São Sebastião(SP) the 2014 World Champion lost a position in the Ranking,  due his prematurely defeat in the Round 3.

Top 9
-------
Joel Parkinson(AUS)the 2012 World Champion lost a position in the Ranking from the Top 8 to Top 9 due his very prematurely defeat in the Round 2

-------------------

The fight in top of Ranking keeps strong mainly between the top 1 and the top 2 as follows:

Top 1 - Jordy Smith(RSA) -             45,850

Top 2 - John John Florence(HAW)- 43,400
                                                              --------
             difference of only                      2,450
                                                       ========
Both Top 1 and Top 2 were overcame by Filipe Toledo(BRA)as follows:

Semifinals
-------------
F. Toledo(BRA)14.90 x 12.66 John John Florence(HAW)

Final
-------
F. Toledo(BRA)15.67 x 9.33 Jordy Smith(RSA)
-------------------------------------------

From the tough dispute between the Top 1 (45,850 points) and the Top 2(43,400)to the Top 3 - Julian Wilson(AUS)there is a gap of 6,200 points.

So I might write, that in the second group there are 6 surfers, with small difference, as follows:

top 3 -Julian Wilson(AUS)
top 4 - Matt Wilkinson(AUS)
top 5 - Owen Wright(AUS)

top 6 - Adriando de Souza(BRA)
top 7 - Filipe Toledo(BRA)
top 8 - Gabriel Medina(BRA)

I also could write there is group of Australians, followed by a group of Brazilians.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adriano de Souza(BRA)surfed very well in CT #8 in Trestles only was defeated by Adrian Buchan(AUS) in a revival of the Final in Itaúna beach, in Saquarema , CT#4. The Final in Saquarema was very disputed and A. de Souza(BRA) overcame the Australian surfer, that had an excellent performance in Brazilian stage and declared "Brazil has good waves, and beach culture too". I have already known both, from Imbituba, Santa Catarina, where I started my small  blog of surfing. They are nice surfers, easygoing with me and with the fans on the shore. Both are edge athletes of surfing, and disputed many heats, since Junior championship...

Now there are more three stage as follows:

CT # 9 - France;
CT # 10 - Portugal;
CT # 11 - Hawaii.
----------------------

Fortunately I could watch the podium in Trestles event broadcasted by WSL - World Surf  League, When the WSL speaker -I remind his professional and nice speaker, in 2016 OI RIO Pro after the Final in Barra da Tijuca- asking  Jordy Smith(RSA)about his confident to the Title:

Jordy Smith(RSA) answered - Yes, I feel so confident....

-I wrote in performance of Top Surfers -Graphic of Lines - check the blog that we could not forget Jordy Smith(RSA)that had a good performance in Trestles, as follows:

2014 - Champion;
2015 - 2nd place;
2016 - Champion;
2017 - 2nd place.
-----------------------

Perhaps the conditions in the Final in California event, were not favorable to Jordy Smith(RSA)style of surfing.
By the way, the current World Champion, John John Florence(HAW)even with the defeat to Brazilian surfer, is in the fight for the Bichampionship this season.

-------------------

In the next stage - Quik Silver Pro France the defending Champion is the Hawaiian surfer Keanu Asing(HAW),an exellent surfer, but is not in the elite of surfing anymore. In the 2015 season on the biggest surf event in Brazil, Keanu Asing(HAW)reached the Round 4, and was defeated in the Recap. Last year, the Hawaiian surfer, was eliminated on the Round 2 - The Recap.

YELLOW-GREEN PODIUM IN CALIFORNIA - by Paulo Piqueres -surfworldtour.blogspot.com -

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YELLOW-GREEN PODIUM IN CALIFORNIA - by Paulo Piqueres -surfworldtour.blogspot.com
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was an "historical" day-  September 15th- for Brazilian surf in California. The podium of the WORLD CIRCUIT OF SURFING, had two athletes yellow-green. I mean perhaps will be hard to happen again, WHO knows???

I filmed the podium broadcasting by  WSL - WORLD SURF LEAGUE :

- USA/08 -HURLEY PRO at TRESTLES;

- USA/07 SWATCH WOMEN'S PRO at TRESTLES..

Both events were won by Brazilian surfers as follows:

USA/08 - Filipe Toledo(BRA)

USA/07 - Silvana Lima(BRA)

I liked when the WSL speaker said  to both :

Now you can speak Portuguese for you friends in Brazil, and they spoke.!!!

English is the Languague of surfing anyway, the name of manuevers, the equipment, the slangs, and so on..I am from farway, Rio Grande do Sul -the sourthen state in Brazil,.but I always like and study English since a Kid so  since I started my small blog of surfing in 2008, I posted everything in English, after 10 years - WCTs now CTs ,I also  prepare Version of the Newspapers of Rio de Janeiro where I am living now, also write Overviews, Performances, Tributes, and produce Videos of World Circuit of Surfing...

But it was so NICE to listen my native language in the podium, I got emotional because when I started in 2008 in my first surf event in Garopaba beach as "beach marshall" and later in Praia do Rosa - Beach of Rosa, and in the same year in Praia da Vila - Vila Beach in Imbituba, Santa Catarina,  WCT, I never could imagine what's happening today in the Tour..

Brazil has two World Champions :

2014 - Gabriel Medina(BRA) the "first";
2015 - Adriano de Souza(BRA).;

The Brazilian storm is always fighting for the best positions in the stages, in the Ranking, that's so nice for fans of this wonderful sport -"The most beautiful"...

Now has a podium of Brazilians, is so much...

We do not know what happen when we passed way...but for sure, I will MISS  the

SURF...

The surf from anywhere: HAWAII, FRANCE, PORTUGAL, SPAIN , AUSTRALIA, UNITED STATES, SOUTHAFRICA, FRENCH POLYNESIA, NEW ZELAND , JAPAN, BRAZIL, BARBADOS, INDONESIA, FIJI, COSTA RICA,PERU, CHILE, PUERTO RICO, EL SALVADOR,  and....

SURF is SURF anywhere... "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SPORT "

The Brazilian surfer of Ceara(CE) Silvana Lima surfed his best stage in this season for sure, and has an excellent performance in Californian waters of Trestles in San Clemente. She was the "highlight" since the beginning of the event.

ROUND 1
------------
heat 2

The athlete of Ceará, S. Lima(BRA)faced the 6 times World Champion, S. Gilmore(AUS) and the 3 times World Champion, C. Moore(HAW), surfed with great performance and defeated both World Champions.

At opening heat of this  Round, the Brazilian surfer overcame the Australian  S. Gilmore(AUS) again, and the French surfer J. Defay(FRA), the deputy Champion in Saquarema, #CT 4, in Brazil, Top 5 in Jeep Leaderboard, and was guaranteed in the Quarterfinals.

QUARTERFINALS
-------------------------
Again at the opening heat, S. Lima(BRA)defeated once more  the surfer S. Gilmore(AUS) for the third time on the waters of Califórnia, and passed to the Semifinals.

FINAL
--------
S. Lima, the "highlight" of the stage in Trestles, did not lose any heat in Califórnia event  and overcame the Australian surfer K. Andrew(AUS).

=======================================================================

The surfer KEELY ANDREW(AUS)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Australian surfer K. Andrew(AUS)entered in the elite of Surfing in 2015, and is always in good shape for the competitions, overcame the Top surfers of California: Sage Erickson(USA)and Courtney Conlogue(USA)and did her first FINAL in the Tour.

I would like to point out that  K. Andrew(AUS) in 2015 when  I prepared some "WAX" to give to the surfers, after the competitions  .So after the event was over, I asked her for a picture and she promptly  holded the "WAX" of my blog of surfing and  and I took the photo and posted on the blog. I had a good memory, I never forget the things that happened...

She is also nice with everybody on the shore.

So I got so happy for her performance on the waters of California, her first podium., maybe soon will come more, let's wait for...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The surfer SILVANA LIMA(BRA)

I already knew S. Lima(BRA)in my first event in 2011, in Rio de Janeiro, after the tour moved from Imbituba, Santa Catarina...The surfer of Ceará, is so nice girl, always simpatic, and high "astral" - easygoing with  everybody on the shore.

In the summer of 2015 I live in Barra da Tjuca, and sometimes I met S. Lima(BRA)and she was so nice...

When I asked her for a photo for my blog, she always attended me so  well, with great "smile", and also is so nice with everybody, the fans, the athletes, the water patrol, she treats everybody so well, I like her profile...

For sure this was a nice FINAL in California, I wish to be there, maybe next year.!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

F. Toledo(BRA) the Champion of 2017  HURLEY Pro at Trestles, also comentted in the podium commented about the Women's Final, and the congratulated both Keely Andrew(AUS)and Silvana Lima(BRA)

The revival of Silvana Lima

Brasileira makes beautiful in the USA and eliminates the six-times World Champion to reach the Semifinals

Renato de Alexandrino
renato.alexandrino@oglobo.com.br

In a complicated year, with below-average results, Silvana Lima was reborn. In the perfect waves of Trestles ,in California, the Brazilian defeated yesterday the six-times  World Champion Stephanie Gilmore to advance to the Semifinals of the seventh stage of the Women's World Circuit of Surfing. The event should finish today.

This is the best result of Silvan in the season. In the six previous stages, she was defeated in the Recap in four stages, and in the other two stages, finished only in ninth position. In 15th place in the Ranking, however, it is practically guaranteed in the CT of 2018 for leading the QS, the access division.

Inspired
When passing the Quarterfinals, the surfer achieved his best result in the season

"Now arrived the moment that I have been waiting so much, even more in this wonderful place," said a relieved Silvana after going through the Quarterfinals in impeccable presentation.

The Australian was a "card customer" of the Brazilian at this stage. Before the decisive duel in the Quarterfinals, Silvana had already overcame Gilmore in the Round 1 and Round 3, which are not eliminatories.

"I'm very happy," celebrated the Brazilian. "To defeat  Stephanie three times at the same event is unusual.
I am very fan of this girl.
In the Semifinals, Silvana will face Lakey Peterson, from the USA. The other Semifinal will be between the also American Courtney Conlogue and the Australian Keely Andrew.

                                                                         Silvana Lima(BRA)won her heat in the Quarterfinals

Filipinho is the only one that still alive in Men's competition

In the Men's event, Filipe Toledo(BRA) is the unique Brazilian still alive in the CT of Trestles.After a long day of competitions, the first two heats of the Quarterfinals were held last night(in Brasilia time), and Adriano de Souza(BRA)was eliminated. Mineirinho was defeated by the Australian Adrian Buchan(AUS) in a very tough dispute and with doubtful result.

Between the two remaining heats, it is the heat of Filipinho, a hot duel against the American Kanoa Igarashi(USA), whom the surfer from São Paulo lost in two controversial disputes. In Saquarema, the two
crashed themself and an interference was noted against Filipinho, who left the water revolted at the final of the heat. In Huntington beach, during the US Open, the movie was repeated.:the two surfers crashed in the beginning of the dispute and Filipinho was punished again with an interference.
