TRIP TO RIP CURL FINALS

TRIP FROM PORTO ALEGRE (RS) BRAZIL TO LOWER TRESTLES, SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES

---------------------------------------------

Since teenager, love SURF, think is the most BEAUTIFUL sport, anyway.

Went to first stage of WCT - World Championship Tour in Imbituba, Santa Catarina, BRAZIL, in 2008, when the Australian surfer Bede Durbidge(AUS) won the STAGE againt the Jeremy Flores(FRA).

And started editing my surf blog since 2010,  and always would like to go to the final stage in PIPELINE, Hawaii, United States.

In 2014, GABRIEL MEDINA(BRA)clinched the first Brazilian WORLD CHAMPION of SURFING; was in Rio de Janeiro, and covered the event in PIPELINE, translating the newspapers sports SURF contents of Rio de Janeiro from Portuguese to English; all this translatings are in the BLOG.

After that, the SURF increased a lot in Brazil, so moved to Rio de Janeiro; after Gabriel Medina(BRA)clinched his first WORLD CHAMPION, Adriano de Souza(BRA)was the second BRAZILIAN WORLD CHAMPION in last stage in Pipeline, Hawaii.

In 2016, bought AVIANCA airline ticket to Los Angeles, to go to Honolulu, but in October 27th, the Hawaiian surfer John John Florence(HAW)clinched the WORLD CHAMPION in Peniche in Portugal.

In 2017, bought AIR CANADA airline ticket to Los Angeles with connection in Toronto(CAN), but gave up the TRIP, because John John Florence(HAW)was well positioned in the Ranking, that would be very hard to lose the TITLE, and the Hawaiian surfer were the CHAMPION by second time straight way.

In 2018, did not buy any airline ticket, and GABRIEL MEDINA(BRA)clinched his second WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, in PIPELINE, Hawaii, United States.

In 2019, bought COPA AIRLINES ticket to Los Angeles, to go to Honolulu, but unfortunately had to make a dental root canal treatment, could not travel, the Brazilian surfer Italo Ferreira(BRA)clinched the WORLD Championship.

In 2020, unfortunately due COVID pandemy, there was no competitions of SURFING, all over the WORLD.

I was living in Rio de Janeiro till 2021, but unfortunately, after my mother passed away, have to stay in Porto Alegre, RS, Southern Brazil, and came to Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, to cover the stage in Brazil, now  VIVO RIO PRO.

In 2021, bought a COPA AIRLINES ticket to Los Angeles, but the borders were still closed for BRAZILIAN, due the COVID pandemy, in SEPTEMBER, but were OPEN in November 8th; came to Los Angeles, visited the beaches SANTA MONICA, VENICE and MALIBU.

This TRIP is on my channel SURFPROCHANNEL on youtube.com

In 2022, bought AEROMEXICO ticket to Los Angeles, but unfortunately could not come due commitments related to my mother's death.

FINALLY this year, 2023, bought a COPA AIRLINES ticket, arrived in Los Angeles, on August 28th, and went to the first day of COMPETITION in Lower TRESTLES, San Clemente, California.

After 15 years, from the first WCT, now WSL, went to the FINALS, that now is in a DAY, with matches among the best five surfers of the RANKING.

The event was OFF, but knew the BEAUTIFUL beach of Lower Trestles, and NEXT year, will BE there.
