G. Medina(BRA)in his opening wave of the heat scored 9.30, and 2.10; CJ.Hobgoog(USA)1.33 and K.Asing(HAW)1.70. Later CJ Hobgoo(USA) surfed a wave - 3.67 but still in combination Later on
G. Medina(BRA)surfed  his third wave-6.00 and left both rivals in combination.
G. Medina(BRA)advanced directly to the Quarterfinals.

This was one of the best heats in the stage. M.Fanning(AUS) in his opening wave scored only 2.17;
JJ. Florence surfed the second wave of the heat -1.50 ;But soon  K. Slater(USA)turned the heat
with only a wave of 3.33. and JJ. Florence(HAW)turned the heat again with 5.33.And later M. Fanning(AUS)turned the heat again with a wave 6.67; After K. Slater(USA)turned the heat again with 8.17. M. Fanning(AUS)turned the heat again with a score 8.00 .
K. Slater(USA)turned the heat again with a wave -7.33 and JJ. Florence(HAW) took the second place in the heat. and finally M. Fanning(AUS) turned the heat with 9.30 and won the heat.

J. Parkinson(AUS)in his opening wave scored 8.60 and J. Flores(FRA)3.83. Later on M. Ho(HAW)
turned the heat in his first wave -10.00 and 6.00; J. Flores(FRA)took the second place in his second wave 5.17 overcoming J. Parkinson(AUS) that went to third position in the heat.
M. Ho(HAW) replaced the 6.00 for 6.23; J. Parkinson(AUS) surfed the 2nd wave: 6.43 and the second position and let J. Flores(FRA)in combination.
M. Ho(HAW) advanced to Quarterfinals.

average wave score  -4.54                                   the best wave -8.40 (2) J. Kerr

A. de Souza(BRA) in his opening wave in the heat scored 5.67, later J. Kerr -1.73 and A. Melling(AUS) 0.20 but they did not turn the heat.
Later A. de Souza(BRA) surfed a good wave and scored 8.00 and let the rivals in combination.
J. Kerr(AUS) also surfed the best wave in the heat -8.40, but not enough to turn the heat.
J. Kerr(AUS)replaced 1.73 for 2.10 but still in second position but needed on 5.17 to turn the heat while Adam is still in combination..
A. de Souza(BRA)advanced to Quarterfinals


Highlights

The battles in this Round were decisive and the heat 2 was the best, turning over many times, between M. Fanning(AUS) and K. Slater(USA).
M. Ho(HAW)that disputed the Trials and replaced the injured O. Wright(AUS) in Round 1, advanced to Round 3, and now, advanced to the Quarterfinals with highest score -10.00 in this Round .
