"Observations from Saquarema"

Is " going on" in Saquarema (RJ), in Itaúna Beach, the fourth Stage of the World Surfing of Circuit. The competition has already started with good waves on the first day of the waiting window. Sea with waves of about 1.5m and favorable wind helped in the performance of the athletes.


We missed Kelly Slater, 11 times World Champion. Besides being a great attraction for the event, he surfed so well and might surprise. Kelly is a show of surfing.


The first heat of the day had Gabriel Medina facing Nat Young, from the United States, and the Hawaiian Ezekiel Lau. The Brazilian well tried, risked some aerials of frontside, but finally finished in second place and went to the Recap. The American Nat Young advanced straight to the Round 3.

By tha way, in the second heat of the Round 1, 100% Brazilian duel. Adriano de Souza, the Mineirinho, Wiggolly Dantas and Jadson Andre faced themselves.Mineirinho won and is classified to  the Round 3.


Besides Adriano de Souza, another Brazilians advanced straight to the Round 3: Ian Gouveia, turned the heat in the final minutes against the Australians Ace buchan and Matt Wilkinson; and Felipe Toledo, one of the highlights of the day, that competed against the Australian Ethan Ewing and the Portuguese Frederico Morais.


On Wednesday, only the first four heats of the Round 2 went to the water. Yago Dora, another highlight of the event so far, surfed very well and turned the heat in the final minutes over the fifth place of the Ranking, the American Kolohe Andino, in the opening heat of the day. After, Bino Lopes went to the water, but was finally defeated by Australian Owen Wright.


In the Round 3, Gabriel Medina had a hard duel with Jessé Mendes. Medina won, and took the place to the Round 3. The Southwest wind has risen and the competition was stopped for the day.


Yesterday, as already forecasted, the Sea was very bad, with strong Southwest wind in the morning and small waves, which let the Organization of the Brazilian stage to determine day off.


Today, at 6:45 am, a new call occurs. It is forecast good conditions of waves to the event in this this weekend.
