Mineirinho that was the leader of the ranking in good part of the year, arrives in Pipeline and needs a victory to be the champion
Leonardo Barros
leonardo.souza@extra.inf.br
Adriano de Souza, the Mineirinho, wore the yellow jersey of the leader of ranking along six stages of World Circuit of Surfing this year. However, at the final, the most experienced of Brazilian storm, at 28 year old was overcome by the Australian, Mick Fanning and his compatriot Filipe Toledo, fell down to third position. By the way he just needs a victory in Pipeline, WCT head office in Hawaii, last stage in the season that started yesterday with the trials of invited surfers, to win the title of the season. And tries to control his anxiety.
-I am not the leader anymore but the pressure still big. Because this, I keep the focus, and at this moment the important is to leave of Pipeline with the yellow jersey - said him in interview by e-mail.
In 2015, Mineirinho won a stage -Margaret River (Australia)and reached in second two times: Bells Beach(Australia) and Trestles(USA). Now pursuit his first trophy in Hawaii.
-Pipeline is a wave to few surfers. It is different for being totally classic, with fantastic and demanding waves and, of course, because is the great final. I am here almost a month just to change this background - affirms the Brazilian, that never passed through Round 3 of Hawaiian championship.
Mineirinho fights for the world title against Filipinho, the current champion, Gabriel Medina:and the
Australians Mick Fanning and Owen Wright. The expectation of organization is that, Round 1 is opening today, at 4:00 pm(of Brasília).
-I arrive with very strenght to fight for the title. This is the objective of a life e let me give my
best -guarantees .

FILIPE TOLEDO
Champion?
Filipinho is loaded in Tijuca after winning the stage in Rio -WSL /Divulgation
LUCAS STRABKO
lucaspaschoal@lancenet.com.br
-I WANT TO FACE FANNING AT MAN TO MAN -
Close to overcome mark of the greatest surfer in history, Felipe teases Mick Fanning and promises to fight to defeat the three times WCT world champion
The Brazilian Filipe is so close to overcome a record of the greatest surfer of all-times.
Currently at second position of world circuit of surfing(WCT) only 200 points of the leader Mick Fanning (AUS), Filipinho depends only on himself to become to youngest champion in history of elite of world surfing .
The stage in Hawaii -the last of the season - that opened yesterday it is scheduled to end on December 20th. If the surfer of Ubatuba(SP) - conquest the title on this day, he will have 20 years, 8 months and 4 four days of life.
The current record holder is Kelly Slater. In 1992, in Rio, the American won his first title with 20 years, 8 months and 14 days. In other words, if Filipinho lift the cup in Pipeline, will have 10 days younger of the owner of eleven titles of the elite of world surfing.
In his third season in the circuit, Filipe Toledo reaches confident to decision. After all, won the penultimate stage of the year in Peniche(POR), completed with a beautiful aerial that earned the grade 10.00 at final. The Brazilian also conquered the stages of Gold Coast and Rio de Janeiro.
In Hawaii, the surfer of Ubatuba(SP) should adapt his repertoire to tubular waves of Pipeline. In 2015, when Filipinho faced with the tubes, he was not well, such when finished in 25th position inMargaret River(AUS) and in 9th in Tahiti.
Despite his young age. the young of 20 years has been bold in and out of water. In this interview to LANCE! by e-mail. Toledo says that want to face the three times world champion Mick Fanning, 14 years older, at man to man. After all, "I have nothing to loose" at final in Pipeline.
The interview will be post after stage in Pipeline.

Three times world champion, the Australian talked to LANCE! about the battle against the Brazilians at Final of World Circuit and remember the uncountable times he watched the attack suffered by a shark. Decision starts today in Hawaii.
LUCAS STRABKO
lucaspaschoal@lancenet.com.br
We can say was reborn in 2015.
Despite the high profile that he has in the world of surfing, the Astralian was only known worldwide after being attacked by a shark in Jeffreys Bay stage of WCT, in July, in South Africa. The image did not shock only the viewers but also the protagonist of the scene, like own Fanning describes in this inteview to LANCE! by e-mail.
The accident could have ended with the dream of Fanning of being four times champion that he carries since winning his last title at WCT, in 2013.
The fourth conquest just did not come last year because of a Brazilian in the last stage of 2014, which was disputed in Hawaii, Gabriel defeated the Australian and Kelly Slater to bring the first title to Brazil. Fanning did not forget the defeat, and because of this he points Medina as his main rival for the title in 2015.
Fan of Brazil, the Australian at 34 years old fills with praises the new generation of surfers of the
country, besides remember that was in Brazilian lands where he conquered his first title in 2007 - the
second conquest occured in 2009.
Relaxed and OK with life, Fanning starts the dispute for the 4th world title today, in the tubes of
Pipleine(HAW), where occurs the last stage of world circuit. The waiting window starts at 3:30 pm(of Brasilia), and runs until day 20.
Challenge-Fanning has to face the tubes of Pipeline to be four times champion.
We talk with Mick Fanning - I could have died, but I am here and this let me have a good year.
Fanning is the favorite for the title. The guy is a monster and has three world titles.
Filipe Toledo, about Mick.
I am honored even more coming from a guy that I am inspired.
Medina to L! about praises of Mick Fanning
It is good. So I will stay with less evil eye.
Mineirinho about Medina be the favorite of Mick, to L!
What need to do to be champion:
Filipe Toledo - 49,700
-If win the stage, take the title
-If 2nd: Fanning or Mineirinho can not win the stage
-If 3rd: Fanning and Mineirinho can not reach to the final(with Mineirinho, would be "tiebreak")
-If 5th: Fanning can only be at maximum 5th, and Mineirinho 3rd
-If 9th :Fanning at maximum in 9th place, Mineirinho in 5th place, and Medina in 2nd
Adriano de Souza - 49,450
-If win the stage, take the title
-If 2nd: Toledo at maximum in 5th and Fanning in 3rd(in case Toledo 3rd, will be "tiebreak" heat)
-If 3rd: Toledo at maximum in 9th, and Fanning in 5th
-If 5th: Toledo at maximum in 13th, Fanning in 9th, and Medina in 2nd
-If 9th: Toledo at maximum in 13th, Fanning in 13th, and Medina in 2nd
Gabriel Medina - 45,350
-If win the stage, Toledo at maximum 9th;Fanning and Adriano at maximum 5th
-If 2nd: Toledo, Fanning and Adriano at maximum 13th, and Owen 2nd
-If 3rd: Toledo at maximum 25th, Fanning and Adriano at maximum 13th, and Owen or Julian at maximum 2nd(in case Julian win, will be "tiebreak"
