Despite losing the final in Hossegor, Gabriel Medina is closer the leader of the season

The difference to the Hawaiian dropped from 4,200 points to 2,700 points

Hossegor - Gabriel Medina follows in the fight for the World Title of Surfing and will go to the stage of Portugal closer to the leader of the Ranking, the Hawaiian John John Florence. Yesterday, the surfer of São Paulo(SP)disputed the Final of the stage of Hossegor, in France, however was defeated by the surprising Hawaiian  Keanu Asing by 13.94 to 7.00.

As John was defeated in the semifinals, the distance to Medina decreased from 4.200 to 2.700 points.
If the Brazilian had been champion, the difference would have dropped to 700 points

John John leads the World Championship with 48,150 points and Medina comes in second  with 45,450 points. The Australian Matt Wilkinson is in third position with 38,250 and still has mathematics chances of being the champion. 

 Remains only two stages to the end of the season and the next will be in Peniche, Portugal, between October 18th and 29th. Folowing, between 8 and 20 December, there will be the traditional stage on the beach of Pipeline in Hawaii.

Yesterday, Asing 21st, in the Ranking, was the surprise in Hossegor. In the Semifinal, the 23-year-old surfer defeated John John in a Hawaiian duel, with two grades above  "8" that let him to finish the heat with 16.94 against 16.07.

In the Final, Asing dominated the dispute against Medina from beginning to end .. The Hawaiian surfed  better waves and took higher scores.
