NEW FORMAT OF BLOG POSTS - 2015 TARGET MAUI PRO - surfworldtour.blogspot.com
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The competitions in Hawaii - Women's in Maui and Men's in Pipeline start at 7:30 am -HST what means 3:30 pm in Rio de Janeiro (daylight saving). In some states in Brazil, there is not daylight saving.
The Women's competition in Maui was scheduled to start on November 21st, but it had nine days of Lay Day, till Saturday, November 28th, 2015.
On Sunday morning, I set up my stuff in my room at the hotel, and around 2:00 pm and went out to lunch at McDonald's - headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, USA -close to Mauá Square -Praça Mauá, and Rio de Janeiro port , a quite farway from the hotel.
I had a Quarterão, that I like and went to "Lojas Americanas" -founded in 1929 in the city of Niterói, but with headquarters in Rio de Janeiro - to look for some DVDS, because there was the "Black Friday" sale yet.
Exactly when I was inside of Lojas Americanas started a thunderstorm so strong in Rio de Janeiro,
inclusive a strong "lightning" struck down and did a phase of electrical network fall down in the central area of the city.
I wait this "thunderstorm" got lower and came to the hotel. But I got rain and the streets were flooded
and fortunately I arrived OK but I felt very cold. I took a hot shower but it was already 5.00 pm.
Exactly, in this stormy Sunday the TARGET MAUI PRO started in Hawaii. I chose started the new FORMAT in Maui -my inspiration -(see the post)to get lucky for my blog and site. But I am Cancer sign -" everything is complicated but in the end it works."
My plan would be to start the new FORMAT of blog posts in Round 1, but unfortunately I could not due to storm...The hotel has a good network signal of Wi-Fi -Wireless Fidelity -so for the first time I could post almost in real time - some minutes delay -from Honolua Bay, Maui, Hawaii.
At my house I had no wired or Wi-Fi networks, I use 3G network by cellular phone, which is slow, and unstable.
It was a nice experience for me, unfortunately I could not try the new FORMAT - with photos and flags of surfers -yet because I got a late due to the storm, but in the Round 4, I debuted the new FORMAT, which got much better, so the blog readers are able to view better the surfers, the flags of the countries in the heats.
In the second day of competition, December 2nd, I did all posts in this new FORMAT, and I think it has improved very much. I always try to improve some details in my blog not to earn more money just to my own and blog readers satisfaction. I still no use AdSense on my blog, because I think
"work with surf is never a work, it is a pleasure."
The Men's competition will start on Tuesday next week, so I will have lunch around noon, in some place close to the hotel, because the weather is rainy in Rio de Janeiro now, and I wish never face a thunderstorm again...
On my site surfworldtour.com, I just posted the results on the day after, because the competitions in Hawaii finish around 4.00 pm there, what means midnight in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil...So I have to write the scripts, upload the photos, send to the server and than go to the Internet network.
Finally, I am so happy at the end of this season, because my site is on the Internet, my work is getting better. I have to improve both: the blog and the site, but the technology always is being updated. In my opinion "the happiness does not come from money, position, status but from within us."

"MAUI" - My inspiration - surfworldtour.blogspot.com
"MAUI" - My inspiration -surfworldtour.blogspot.com
First I will comment about how I chose the name "Maui" to my e-mail, posts and everything that I do in the Internet.
After my dad passed away in December of 2005(almost 10 years ago), I got very upset and lost, so in 2006 I quitted the English classes at the High School , and went to Garopaba , Santa Catarina in the Summer to go away for while. It was very nice to enjoy a surftown, because surf is " the most beautiful sport", for me, since I was a Kid and watched TV programs about surf.
However, the year 2007 was so tense and sad for me, I had no much money, and I missed the English students at High School where I taught for 12 long years and I was very lonely and had problems to sleep anyway, what they call "insomnia" .
At this time there was a TV serie on Rede Globo -Television network in Rio de Janeiro- in the dawn called "North Shore"(see the version above) shot in Hawaii, where they play sports and talked about "Maui".
When I heard this word for the first time I enjoyed it very much, and I decided to use this name. Most people do not understand so much, so I explain that is an island in Hawaii. Since I bought my HP notebook in 2009 I set up Maui time zone, just to know what time is there.
I did not miss any program, so I had the idea to use this name "Maui" in my work, mauienglish, because I taught private English classes and did translations and versions. The yahoo provided my first access to the Internet in 2009 with the site - geocities.com/mauienglish/sports, later on yahoo closed this service, but I will use this name forever, and for sure, next year, 2016 I will visit this Hawaii island, that is really a "paradise".
I had already lived in San Francisco, California; Chicago, Illinois; and New York City, New York. I traveled to South America ,Europe and visited 15 countries already but I never went to Hawaii. I already had three passports, and I will get my 4th passport now in Rio de Janeiro. Maybe the time to go to Hawaii is upcoming!
Unfortunately I could not go to Billabong Pipe Masters this season ,because I did not buy the ticket in advance and US dollar rose up in the last months in Brazil due to political instability but as soon as possible I will buy the ticket to Honolulu and finally know my great inspiration M A U I !!!!
As I feel alone in the world, I am give the Honolulu ticket for myself for Christmas.

SECOND DAY OF COMPETITION OVERVIEW-10/HAW TARGET MAUI PRO-by surfworldtour.blogpot.com
December 2nd, 2015
Women's - Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour/WSL -World Surf League
Brief
On this second day of competition in Honolua Bay, Maui, Hawaii, the Hawaiian surfers were very well again as I already pointed out on November 30, 2015.
When the event initiated were six Hawaiian surfers, just the Trials winner D. McGill(HAW)-she was just defeated by L. Peterson(USA)World No.4 at final minutes of the heat - left in the Round 2, so left five surfers to Round 3.
In the Round 3 -A. Quizon(HAW) and C. Moore(HAW) won and went directly to Quarterfinals.
After on in the Round 4, in the opening heat T. Weston-Webb(HAW) World No.8, also surfed very well in Maui defeated L. Peterson(USA), however M. Manuel(HAW)was defeated by T. Wright(AUS)World No.5.
Then were four Hawaiian surfers in the Quarterfinals and just T. Weston-Webb(HAW) was defeated by his compatriot C. Moore(HAW) World No.1-two times World Champion.
So, from six Hawaiian surfers in the Round 1, a half of them, three were in the Semifinals.
It seemed a Hawaiian Surf Championship!
C. Ho(HAW) surfed very well in Honolua Bay - defeated C. Conlogue(USA) in Round 4 - was defeated by S. Fitzgibbons(AUS) otherwise would be a Hawaiian final in Honolua Bay.
At Final, C. Moore(HAW) scored the only 10.00 wave in the event, defeated S. Fitzgibbons(AUS) and became World Champion of Surfing for the third time.
ROUND 4
heat 1
L. Peterson(USA)at her opening wave scored 5.50 and T.Weston-Webb(HAW) 2.67 and her second wave 3.50 so L. Peterson(USA) took the lead but the Hawaiian surfer surfed two better waves 7.23 and 6.33 and turned the heat over the North-American surfer with 6.50 and 5.63.
So T. Weston-Webb(HAW)advanced to the Quarterfinals.
heat 2
At her opening wave M. Manuel(HAW)World No.9 scored just 0.90 and T. Wright(AUS)scored 5.50 and a 5.77 and took the lead. Later the Hawaiian surfer surfed more two weak waves 4.17 and 6.50 and was defeated by the Australian surfer.
heat 3
At this heat C. Conlogue(USA)World No.2 had to win otherwise would be out of the event and leave the title fight for the next season.
C. Ho(HAW) at his opening wave scored 9.17 and North American surfer scored just 4.50 and later on 8.43 and than replaced 4.50 for 5.83 and turn the heat however at final minutes of the battle C. Ho(HAW) scored 7.33 turn the heat and defeated C. Conlogue(USA).
C. Conlogue(USA)just surfed four waves, she has much more potential, but maybe the emotional pressure of awaiting period of nine days in Maui unsettled her focus.
heat 4
J. Defay(FRA) World No.7 at his opening wave scored just 0.90 and later on surfed a good wave 8.17. B. Buitendag(SAF)World No.6 at her opening wave scored 4.50 and later 7.40.
At final third of the heat B.Buitendag(SAF) scored 6.87 and turned the heat. J. Defay(FRA)surfed more waves but with weak scores, some less than 1.00 till found a good wave of 6.17 and turned the heat just for 0.07.
When the heat was finishing B. Buitendag(SAF) surfed her last wave 8.67 score turned the heat and defeated J. Defay(FRA).
QUARTERFINALS
heat 1
At this Hawaiian battle - both athletes surfed very well in Honolua Bay; T. Weston-Webb(HAW) won the heat 1 of Round 1 and A. Quizon(HAW) won the heat 1 of Round 3-both rounds of three surfers.
A. Quizon(HAW)at her opening wave scored 6.67 and T. Weston-Webb scored 2.50 and after a 4.00 and a 7.50 scores while A. Quizon surfed another 6.37 wave and won this battle over her compatriot
and went to Semifinals.
heat 2
C. Moore(HAW) already World Champion by third time, surfed a very good wave 9.60 and a 7.87 ;
T. Wright(AUS)surfed just four waves 6.77 and 8.17 and was defeated by the Hawaiian surfer.
heat 3
N. Van Dijk(AUS) that defeated C. Conlogue(USA) at Round 3 also was surfing very well in Honolua Bay scored 7.17 at her opening wave and later on 8.17 and 8.03 while C. Ho(HAW) scored just 0.50 and later on surfed two better waves 7.57 and 7.17 but still needed a 7.78 score to turn the heat. At final C. Ho(HAW) surfed a very good wave 9.33 turned the heat and won.
heat 4
At this non-Hawaiian heat B. Buitendag(SAF) at her opening wave scored 4.50 and S. Fitzgibbons(AUS)2.67 score but later the Australian surfed more two good waves and scored 9.20 and 8.87.
Than B. Buitendag(SAF) surf an excellent wave 9.87(almost 10.00) and needed 8.20 to turn the heat
and she almost reached it - 8.17 score. This heat had the second better average wave score 9.03.
S. Fitzgibbons(AUS) won the heat for 0.03 and and went to Semifinals
Semifinals
heat 1
At this Hawaiian battle A. Quizon at her opening wave scored 7.60 but soon C. Moore(HAW) turn the heat with 8.90 and another good wave 9.00, so let A. Quizon in combination - needed two better waves than her opponent - A. Quizon(HAW) scored another 7.60 but was in combination yet.
C. Moore(HAW) surfed more five waves but not as the first two scores and finally defeated her compatriot, and was in the Final.
heat 2
S. Fitzgibbons(AUS) at her opening wave scored 9.83 and C. Ho(HAW) 3.67 .Later the Australian surfer scored another good wave 8.37. So C. Ho(HAW)scored 5.67 and at final 8.73 and left the combination. S. Fitzgibbons(AUS) won the heat and went to the Final.
Final
It supposed to be a great final between two excellent surfers C. Moore(HAW)World No.1 and S. Fitzgibbons(AUS)World No.3.
Both surfers have many fans in Brazil.
It seemed that the surfers were so strategic in this Final. C. Moore(HAW)surfed an excellent wave and scored 9.50 and S. Fitzgibbons(AUS) 8.33. and needed 1.18 to turn the heat.
C. Moore(HAW)surfed another wave 8.63 and S. Fitzgibbons(AUS)another wave 8.53.
Later on C. Moore(HAW) surfed an excellent wave 9.30 and let S. Fitzgibbons in combination.
C. Moore(HAW)received the unique 10.00 score in the event, surfed very well in excellent shape in Maui and deserved the World Title this season.
This Final had the best average wave score - 9.35.
