After missed the stage of Fiji by suspension, Brazilian is the Champion in Jeffreys Bay


Filipe Toledo(BRA) confirmed the good moment lived during all the contest of Jeffreys Bay, in South Africa and guaranteed the title of the sixth event of the season of World Circuit of Surfing. At a disputed Final, the surfer of Ubatuba(SP)scored 18 points with his best two waves and defeated the Portuguese Frederico Morais(PRT) for a difference of only 27 hundredth.

Besides of guaranteeing the first Brazilian victory in one of the most traditional events of the Circuit, the result had a special taste for Filipinho. Punished by World Surf League(WSL)due a fight with the judges in Saquarema, in Rio, he was out of the last stage, in Fiji.

With the conquest, Toledo went up to the seventh position in the World Ranking, with 23,950 points, led by the Australian Matt Wilkinson(AUS), with 31,950. The best Brazilian in the fight is Adriano de Souza(BRA), the Mineirinho: the 2015 World Champion is the fifth position with 27,900. Champion of the 2014 season, Gabriel Medina(BRA)reached the Semifinals in South Africa and now is ninth with 21,000.

For arriving to the Final, Filipinho has a consistent performance during the competition. The only defeat came in the Round 1, when was overcame by Michel Bourez(PYF). In the Recap, got his first score "10", when defeated the American Kanoa Igarashi(USA)scored 19.63 points.
In the Round 4, against Jordy Smith(RSA)and Julian Wilson(AUS), the Brazilian advanced with 19 points conquered with three aerials, being two in the same wave and garanteed another "10" in South Africa.

On the way to the Final yesterday, also left out of the contest the South African Jordy Smmith(RSA)overcame by 18.70 to 13.26 and the Australian Julian Wilson, by 16.63 to 11.33, in the Quarterfinals and Semifinals  respectively.

And for detail the Final in Jeffreys Bay was not Brazilian. Surprise in the competition the Portuguese Frederico Morais(PRT)surfed well his first two waves in the heat and overcame in the Semifinals Gabriel Medina with score 17.37 against 14.70 of Brazilian.

The Elite of surfing comes back for competing in Tahiti, with the window of competition that goes between the days 11th and 22nd of August.
