In the Round 3, all surfers better positioned in the Ranking were classified to the Round 4, with 12 surfers, except Adriano de Souza(BRA) that was defeated by Joan Duru(FRA)in the opening heat.
In the Round 4, heat 3 -the top surfers Jordy Smith(RSA), Filipe Toledo(BRA) and Julian Wilson(AUS)were on the water when showed up a big white shark in the competition area, and immediately the competition was stopped way. Fortunately this time there was not attack as in 2015 -In the Final, Mick Fanning(AUS)was attacked by a big shark -See the post- July 2015.
Day 8 - July 19th - "ON"
In the Round 4, the 2014 World champion Gabriel Medina(BRA), Frederico Morais(PRT), Filipe Toledo(BRA), and the yellow jersey - the First in the Ranking -Matt Wilkinson(AUS) classified directly to the Quarterfinals.

Day 9 - July 20th - "ON"
The surfers that won the heats in the Round 4 also defeated theirs opponents in the Quarterfinals, except the Australian Julian Wilson(AUS)that defeated Michel Bourez(PYF)in the Recap and Matt Wilkinson(AUS)in the Quarterfinals.
In the Semifinals, Frederico Morais(PRT)defeated Gabriel Medina(BRA) and Filipe Toledo(BRA)overcame Julian Wilson.
In the Final, Filipe Toledo surfed very well with aerials and defeated the Portuguese Frederico Morais, for small difference.
Filipe Toledo(BRA) did not compete in Fiji, because was suspended due his behavior in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, after "interference" over Kanoa Igarashi(USA). Perhaps this "rest" of Filipe Toledo(BRA)did so well to the surfer of Ubatuba(SP).
SEARCHING FOR THE 2017 WORLD CHAMPION OF SURFING TITLE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matt Wilkinson(AUS)is still the leader of the Ranking Jeep Leaders- WSL - and will wear the yellow jersey in Teahupoo, Tahiti, French Polynesia, but the pursuit of John John Florence(HAW), Jordy Smith(RSA) and Owen Wright(AUS)continues so strong with small difference of points. A little behind are Adriano de Souza(BRA), Joel Parkinson(AUS), Filipe Toledo(BRA) and Julian Wilson(AUS). Gabriel Medina(BRA) and Conner O'Leary(AUS)are arriving close, but are still remaining 5 events: Tahiti(PYF), Trestles(USA), Landes(FRA),Peniche (POR), and last and the most famous one: Pipeline(HAW).
The top surfers better positioned in the Ranking still might be 2017 World Champion. At my opinion, probably the competition of this year will be decided on last event, maybe in the last heat.Different of the last year, when John John Florence(HAW)clinched the World Title in Portugal,in the 10th event,
Let's wait for...
