2015 SAMSUNG GALAXY CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR - WSL - WORLD SURF LEAGUE - WOMEN'S AND MEN'S FINAL EVENT IN HAWAII ,USA
2015 SAMSUNG GALAXY CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR - WSL - WORLD SURF LEAGUE -
"WOMEN'S AND MEN'S FINAL EVENT" in HAWAII, USA.
The 2015 professional surfing tour Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour - WSL World Surf League is upcoming to the end in the Hawaiian beaches, the girls in Maui, and the men in Pipeline.
I arrived yesterday in Rio de Janeiro, coming from the South, I live in a small city close to Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul , the southern state in Brazil.
I follow the professional surfing tour since 2008 in Imbituba, Santa Catarina, and since 2010 I edit the blog surfworldtour.blogspot.com, and since September of this year, finally my site surfworldtour.com is in the Internet.
Last year I came to Rio de Janeiro in December to follow the final competition in Hawaii, because the Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina(BRA) was about the become the Brazil's first surfing world champion and fortunately he became the 2014 Surfing World Champion.
After the summer in Rio de Janeiro, I went back to the South to set up my things, and came back to Rio de Janeiro in Fall, about final of March, to take some pictures to my blog, at the main season for surfing. In Eastern times I went back to the South to set up my stuff, banners, clothes, to be back in May to the Oi Rio Pro.
This year, Filipe Toledo(BRA) was the champion in Barra da Tijuca, with many, many fans on the shore.
After the OI Rio Pro, I went back to RS, in June, and unfortunatelly our state was reached by strong raining, storms, floods in the Winter and many cities and families suffered a lot.
This year, our country, Brazil has three surfers with chances of being Surfing World Champion:
Filipe Toledo(BRA), Adriano de Souza(BRA) , and Gabriel Medina(BRA)defending champion.
This season, the world championship was so disputed, with many champions in the stops:
Filipe Toledo(BRA), Mick Fanning(AUS), Adriano de Souza(BRA), Owen Wright(AUS), Jeremy Flores(FRA), and Gabriel Medina(BRA).
In August of the current year, Mick Fanning(AUS) suffered a shark attack in Jeffreys-Bay, South Africa, but fortunalelly nothing happened to our three times world champion. J-Bay, South Africa did not have a champion, Mick Fanning(AUS) and Julian Wilson(AUS) received 8,000 points each one, and stop was cancelled.
The current champion, Gabriel Medina(BRA)won in Hossegor, France, last October, after 14 months without a victory in the tour. Some newspapers said: "The Champion is back."
Next Saturday, November 21st, the 2015 Women's Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour is upcoming in Honolua Bay, Maui, Hawaii and probably the contest will be between Carissa Moore(HAW) who won in Gold Coast(AUS), Bells(AUS)and Trestles(USA); and her rival Courtney Conlogue(USA), who won in Margaret River(AUS), OI Rio Pro(BRA), and Cascais(PRT). Courtney Conlogue(USA) has more confidence and progressed tecnically a lot this year, but Carissa Moore(HAW) will compete at home and has wide experience.
Unfortunatelly, last Friday night,November 13th, the city of Paris(FRA) was hit by terrorist attacks in many locals which left 129 dead people , and hundreds injured. This let all world around so sad, and I wish this kind of thing do not reach the sport world anyway.
Returning to the World Championship of Surfing, Mick Fanning(AUS), Filipe Toledo(BRA), and Adriano de Souza(BRA), are able to be 2015 World Champion of Surfing if win in Pipeline, Hawaii.
Gabriel Medina(BRA), Owen Wright(AUS)and Julian Wilson(AUS), also are able to be 2015 World Champion, but they depend on other results.
I heard some news about the trasfer of 2016 the WSL-World Surf League - Championship of Surfing from Barra da Tijuca to Grumari, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Let's wait for the confirmation...
Finally, I wish this turbulent year finish so well in Maui and Pipeline, Hawaii.
And surelly the world of surfing will have two great champions, women's and men's championship as always.
