Gabriel Medina advances and may take the Top

***Leader Filipe Toledo is eliminated by the Australian zebra and sees the compatriot to reach the Round 4 . If Medina arrives to the Semifinals, he will become the first place

NÚCLEO POLIESPORTIVO

Favorite of the stage of France of the World Circuit of Surfing  and vice-leader in the Ranking, Gabriel Medina has the knife and cheese on hand to take the leadership of the season. Yesterday, he eliminated compatriot Wiggoly Dantas in the Round 3 and, benefited by the elimination of the leader, the also Brazilian  Filipe Toledo, advanced to the Round 4. As Filipinho will add 1,750 points and goes to 51,135, Medina - who entered the stage with 45,685 and has already guaranteed at least 4,000 - needs to reach the Semifinals to take the Top. It is worth remembering that after the French stage, only two more will remain: Portugal (Peniche, next week) and Hawaii (Pipe Masters of Oahu in December)

Filipinho

Filipe toledo was excellent in his heat, getting the best score of the event so far, a 9.0 wave and still added another 7.60. However, the Australian Ryan Callinan, who received Wild Card (invitation) to dispute the stage, added two great waves, 8.87 - second best score of the event - and another that received 7.93. Craved 16.80 and eliminated the Brazilian. To get an idea of the high level of this heat, Filipinho would have overcame any rival in the other heats and advanced of Round.

Medina

Gabriel Medina entered on the Sea in the heat right after Filipinho and did not need a great performance to defeat Wiggoly Dantas with a wave of 6.33 and another of 5.0, scoring 11.33. Wiggoly tried nine waves, but none over to five and the best two were 4.0 and 4.37, closing with only  8.37.

Other Brazilians

Only Adriano de Souza advanced, eliminating the Australian Adrian Buchan. Ítalo Ferreira, Yago Dora, Ian Gouveia and Willian Cardoso were eliminated. As it got dark, the heat between the "Brazuca" Michael Rodrigues and the Hawaiian Ezequiel Lau stayed for the first call today (at 3 in the morning)

Medina and Filipinho advanced to the Round 3

After a week of postponement because of weak waves, began yesterday the stage of Franceof the WCT in Hossegor. And with great performance of Gabriel Medina. Favorite of the fifth heat, the current deputy leader won the heat and automatically moved to the Round 3. By the way Filipe Toledo, the leader: took a fright. Favorite of the sixth battery, he was defeated and needed to seek his place in Round 3 in the Recap, when he did very well. So the two favorites for the title this year  are still alive. It is worth remember that Filipinho leads with 49,785 and former World Champion Gabriel Medina is in the second place with 45,685 points.

Medina

Medina faced the Brazilian Tomas Hermes and the Australian Ryan Callinan as rivals in his heat. With a 5.5 and a 6.43, he managed the leadership and moved automatically to the Round 3.

Filpinho

Filipe toledo entered the next heat and although he scored  5.77 in one of the waves, he did not get a second reasonable score, adding only a 3.33 and stayed behind the Australian Connor O'Leary. Thus, he had to seek the place in the Round 2, the recap. His direct dispute was against the European champion, the Frenchman Jorgann Couzinet. In this heat, the Brazuca found his surf. So, did not give chance to his rival, who is local of Hossegor: Filipinho scored 8.17 and 7.67, guaranteed himself in the next round of the stage. "No stress, letting things flow in the competition," said Filipinho, who, by the specialists is a free sniper at this stage, because Medina is considered the biggest favorite.

The rival of the brasucas

The unique surfer who is still in the title fight with Medina and Filipinho and can take the Cup of Brazil, the Australian Julian Wilson (third place with 37,125 points)

Other Brazilians

Two other Brazilians won their heats and advanced straight to the Round 3. Adriano de Souza, the World Champion of 2015, and Ítalo Ferreira (fourth placed in the Rankin and still with chance of title ) overcame  Yago Dora and won the heat, qualifying and let the aerial races champion for recap. Other Brazilians who did not win their heats and are in the recap (to be disputed at dawn of today) are: Miguel Pupo, Ian Gouveia, Michael Rodrigues, Jesse Mendes and William Cardoso.
