Finally!!After five days of postponements, the Sea gave signal of life in Trestles, in Califórnia, e permitted yesterday the beginning of the eighth stage of World Circuit of Surfing.
The waves were small, but were good enough to Filipe Toledo to show that he is not for kidding. With his usual talent in aerials manuevers, the Brazilian scored 9.43 and 8.17 e had the best average of the Round 1, with 17.60 points.

I felt myself very comfortable of being here. It is  very good to be at home, to surf in Lower (Trestles)and be able to go sleep in my own bed after - said Filipinho, that lives with the family in San Clemente, próximo to Trestles: - It is a motivation very big to reach a good result here.Besides the number 9 of Ranking, two Brazilians debuted with victory. Adriano de Souza, nowadays the sixth of the World, won the opening heat of the day, against  the compatriots Wiggoly Dantas(BRA) and Miguel Pupo(BRA),adding 14.50 points. The number 7 of Ranking, Gabriel Medina(BRA)scored 13.67 points and overcame the American Nat Young(USA) and the Australian Adrian Buchan(AUS).

-I want to surf better. I feel that make some erros, but is always good to be the first in the first heat. I just want to surf well, reach high scores and give my maximum - said Medina.

The others six brazilians in the CT(Wiggolly, Pupo, Jadson André, Caio Ibelli, Italo Ferreira and Ian Gouveia)went to the Recap. The forecast is of small waves during all the window  of the event, that has deadline till Sunday to be finished. The organization, however, wants to finish the Men's stage..-The CT of Trestles has also an event of the women's- till Friday.
-The Sea is small, so you have to be pacient. I wait that the things getting better -analise Medina

The World Circuit of Surfing arrived in California, my favorite state in U.S.A., where I studied Marketing in San Francisco, California.  When I went to California, was a long way trip, my flights were from Porto Alegre to São Paulo, and than to Assuncion in Paraguay, where we stopped for while. So  I took the airplane to Miami. In Miami.There I caught a Greyhound bus to San Francisco.
We only stopped for resting in Los Angeles, a Metropolis, where there are many beachs for surfing.

The event in Trestles was scheduled to start on September 06th, however only started on this Monday, September 11th, because before the Sea did not have good wave conditions for surfing.

"PERFORMANCE" of TOP Surfers in the 2017 season -Championship Tour -WSL -World Surf League-Graphic of Lines by Paulo Piqueres -surfworldtour.blogspot.com
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Searching for the 2017 World Title of surfing
-----------------------------------------------------------
When I prepared the last versions as- Equilibrio sobre as ondas - I realized that this year the fight for the title is more balanced that I thought; I already comment about this in CT# 7 - Teahupo'o -Tahiti -Check the blog - that certainly the decision of the title of World Champion of this season will be in the last and the most famous stage of the Circuit in Pipeline - Billabong Pipe Masters- Oahu, Hawaii in December from 8th to 20th.

Seven different Top surfers were champions in the seven stages of the World Circuit till now, what only happened in 1992, 25 years ago.
I would like to point out that Filipe Toledo(BRA)won the 6th stage in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa,and he is 4,550 points behind Gabriel Medina(BRA)that is in the seventh position in 2017 Ranking Jeep Leaders. Unfortunatelly Filipe Toledo(BRA)he was suspended in fifth stage in Fiji, due for complaining the interference in Saquarema -4th stage in Brazil.

So I decided to prepare a Graphic of Lines over the performance of Top surfers during this season, only for getting some details that might help in my analyses, because before working with Surf - The most beautiful sport -, I was graduated in Business Administration and studied Commodity Trading in Chicago Board of Trade in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Obviously that "Surf" is not stock market, commodities...Surf is more complex and depends straight of the Nature, I mean the Sea conditions, the Wind, the kind of waves of each beach, and mainly the performance of the Top surfers on the water. All surfer are edge athletes, but sometimes any  Top surfer may be in a wonderful day, when everything is Ok, but sometimes not.

Some surfers had ups and down while some are increasing their performance, for instance:

Julian Wilson(AUS)performance:(orange line)
Event - CT #             Position
---------------------    -----------
3 -Rip Curl /Australia      13th
4 -OI Rio Pro/Brazil         9th
5 -Ok /Fiji                       5th
6 -Corona  /South Africa 3rd
7 -Billabong/Tahiti            1st *
------------------------------------
*Julian Wilson(AUS)overcame Gabriel Medina(BRA)-2014 World Champion- in one the best Finals I have ever watched on Youtube provided by World Surf League.
The Australian won in the last seconds of the heat, with an excellent "barrel"; Gabriel Medina(BRA)also surfed excellent "barrels" and had an excellent performance in the Final.

Gabriel Medina(BRA)performance:(green line)
The 2014 World Champion is also  increasing his performance in the season, searching the Bichampionship, as we check bellow:

3 -Rip Curl/Australia       13th
4 -OI Rio Pro/Brazil         9th
5 -Ok /Fiji                       13th *
6 -Corona/South Africa     3rd
7 -Billabong/Tahiti            2nd
------------------------------------
*Gabriel Medina(BRA)was defending Champion in Fiji, but unfortunately was defeated on Round 3.

------
See I am not saying that both have more chances to be the 2017 Champion of Surfing, besides there are more four events, Trestles is still on "lay days"  but they are increasing along the season.

--------------
By other hand, we can not forget the "yellow Jersey" -leader of the Ranking- Jordy Smith(RSA) performance in Californian event,  in the last three years.

Last Champions in Trestles:
---------------------------
2014 - Jordy Smith(RSA)
2015 - Mick Fanning(AUS)
2016 - Jordy Smith(RSA)
---------------------------

I had the idea of preparing this Graphic of Lines-used in performance cases- on Thursday night, September 7th- Brazil Independence Day holiday-,and did the Graphic as I could, but I will improved it after CT #8-Trestles, with more sophisticated tools.

-------------------------------------------------
The Graphic of Lines was prepared by Paulo Piqueres -Graduated in Business Administration by UNISINOS- Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos,

                                            Congonhas Airport - São Paulo

                                           Santos Dumont Airport - Rio de Janeiro

I arrived in Rio de Janeiro from  the  Southern state in  Brazil,  Rio Grande do Sul (RS), in early August, for working on the final stages of the 2017 World Circuit of Surfing season - WSL - World Surf League.
I have already prepared:

-USA/06 -Vans US Open of Surfing -Women's event in California,USA;

- TAH / Billabong Pro  Tahiti -in Teahupo'o -Tahiti - French Polynesia, with the great Final between Australian Julian Wilson (AUS) and Brazilian Gabriel Medina (BRA);

-Overview of TAH/07;

-Searching  for the Title of World Champion of Surfing ;

-The last World Champions: 2014/2015/2016;

-Versions of the newspaper EXTRA;

-Video - A tribute to Gabriel Medina (BRA);-

-USA/07 - Swatch Women's Pro in Lower Trestles- CA, USA;

-USA/08  - Hurley Pro in Trestles - CA, USA;-

- Graphic of Lines- The performance of the Top surfers in the season 2017;

I work every days in the morning;Sometimes I go to Estácio University, when I need to work online through "broadband"; and sometimes, when I work offline, I stay in my hotel room and do my work through "Wi-Fi" even.So, after work, I used to have lunch at 2:00 pm, because the restaurants are calmer and, anyway, I do not like to have lunch early ...

After lunch, I like to go out, looking for high-tech equipment, DVDs, CDs, magazines, books, clothes, watches, perfumes and so on ... There are many upscale stores in downtown Rio de Janeiro.

When Sunset comes, it is "time to think" - I watched this phrase in a Surf movie in Hawaii ...
I used to drink coffee and work again, sometimes until late night, because there is more silence.

As in this last weekend, the events in Trestles, California, were "off for the day", I went out on Saturday night in Lapa - a famous "bohemian" neighborhood - there are many bars, nightclubs, restaurants- in Rio de Janeiro, so closed where I live .

On Sunday, I took the subway in the South area to the Arpoador beach - I worked there in 2011 and 2012 WCT-World Championship Tour, and enjoyed the SUNSET in Ipanema beach, which reminds me of pleasant moments in Rio de Janeiro I used to say that when the World Circuit of Surfing moved to Rio de Janeiro, I came "together".

 Now the stage in Brazil  moved to Itaúna beach in Saquarema.

But I will stay in Rio de Janeiro, my favorite city ever.
