Introduction

I from a small town close to Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, the Southern state of Brazil.
Since 2011, when the stage of World Championship of Surfing moved from Praia da Vila -Vila Beach, Imbituba(SC) to Arpoador/Barra da Tijuca beaches,Rio de Janeiro. I have often traveled to Rio de Janeiro, RJ, mainly after December of 2014 when Gabriel Medina(BRA)clinched the World Title of Surfing.
DECEMBER, 2015

I arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Nov 17th, for covering the Final Stage of World Circuit of Women's because the final contest would define the World Champion: between Courtney Conlogue(USA) and Carissa Moore(HAW) from Nov 26 to Dec.06th in Haleiwa, Maui.

And later on the final contest of Mens's in Pipeline that had six surfers with conditions of clinching the World Championship: F. Toledo(BRA), A. de Souza(BRA), M. Fanning(AUS), with more chances: and G. Medina(BRA), J. Wilson(AUS), and O. Wright(AUS) with less chances of being the World Champion of the 2015 season. In Rio de Janeiro, "surf" has much more space in the Media: newspapers, television, magazines besides that the stage in Brazil is disputed here.

Carissa Moore(HAW)clinched her third World Champion of Surfing right after Cortney Conlogue(USA) lost his heat against the Hawaiian Coco Ho(HAW).

Final Stage in Pipeline -Oahu - Hawaii -Dec. 08/20th
Adriano de Souza(BRA), clinched his first World Champion of Surfing after our great champion Gabriel Medina(BRA)defeated Mick Fanning(AUS)in the Semifinals on final wave, on final second..... Adriano de Souza (BRA)defeated Gabriel Medina(BRA)in the Final , so the podium was Brazilian in Pipeline, the most famous stage of World Circuit of Surfing; maybe will take some time to have a podium as this one again. Gabriel Medina(BRA)was the first Brazilian to clinch the Triple Crow, the surfer of Maresias(SP) is always ahead...

It was time to have a break...
I passed the New Year Eve in Copacabana beach; they say it the biggest outdoor Reveillon in the World... It was so nice, with fireworks- 30 minutes straight on - Ocean Liners on the shore with the lights on, are so nice to enjoy...I took many photos and prepared a simple video with cell phone, too.

I always loved to work with images... I love the Nature and everything that is beautiful for me...

After I bought the Sony video camera, did the Passport and my fourth Visa to USA, than I came back to hometown, because I was so tired. I stayed in Rio de Janeiro three months straight way. And I worked a lot on my blog -prepared many posts and versions, and so on about the second title of World Surfing of Brazil straight away:

I would come back to OI Rio PRO in May, for debuting my camera; and in August to the Olympic games .
During the Summer, the Sea is flat, with no waves, and in January, rained a lot in Rio de Janeiro.
I used to have coffee and sandwich at Central of Brazil- bus/subway/trainVLT station in downtown; bought the papers, and go to University to prepare the posts, versions and so on...
FEBRUARY

I was a quite tired, than before the Carnival I went back to my state,RS; I generally went back to the South by bus, because I have no idea exactly the day I will be travelling.
Some friends from my hometown, always asked me about the WCT, Gabriel Medina(BRA). Filipe Toledo(BRA), Adriano de Souza(BRA), Kelly Slater(USA); they know I working with..Some asked me about: Who is the best surfer: Adriano de Souza(BRA) or Gabriel Medina(BRA), I anwered that both are World Champions, surfers of "edge", but anyway I might point out some details, A. de Souza(BRA) has 29 years old , and is already in the circuit since 2005 for more than 10 years. G. Medina(BRA)has 23 years old, entered the World Circuit in 2011 in Ocean Beach San francisco(USA), and takes more risks in surfing manuevers with more aerials , he ride more waves with high velocity, so different of A. de Souza(BRA), that usually choose more the right wave for scoring better according his style, with manuevers so accurate, aerials that sometimes seens to be in slow motion .....

I rested for while, set up my luggage to next trip, and make the arrangements to go back to Rio de Janeiro, in May, to OI RIO PRO. I did not film anything..I wish to debut my Sony camera in the world championship of surfing on May, with surfers on the beach, on the waves, and, ultimately in Surfing...The theme of my blog and site is "surf is the most beaufiful sport" and "it is"; it a kind of change of energy with the nature, most times unpredictable.
However, on final of March 2016, a "nightmare" arrived in my life changed after dental fillings fell in the premolar tooth, so I went directly to Dental Clinic , and the dentist treated the tooth and recommended a treatment of dental canal, which could take some time.So I decided to go the WCT of Surfing in Rio de Janeiro, and left the treatment of dental canal to later on.
APRIL

This year I did not prepare anything as wax , shorts, and so on...It is tiring and it is not worth with,, because in the events , I can not disturb the concentration of to the surfers; they are focused on the competition. This year I was so tired. So I bought my airplane ticket to come to my 6th season in Rio de Janeiro -
2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and the next 2016.
I only prepared a new design of the T-shirts of the blog, for wearing in the events...I am always changing, but lately I only write the name of the blog and site, I guess is clearear and more visible for the people around and they I realize I am working and most times let me pass for filming or take a picture...

Everything was ready: shorts, t-shirts, banners, my equipment.
I traveled by GOL airlines, I arrived on the morning of May 8th .
On Saturday afternoon, I went to Barra da Tijuca by bus, to take some photos of my banners... This year they prepape a huge structure in Postinho -Barra da Tijuca, which unfortunately had some problems after "ressacas" strong sea, they arrived in Rio in Fall.
So the Contest this year started in Grumari, a beautiful beach, but a little farway..So the WSL World Surf League, provided Vans to take the people to the beach...On the fist day of competition, I woke up at 4 am took the bus throught Linha Amarela -Yellow Line to Recreio Shopping and there caught a the Van that took us to Grumari beach...
I had never been there before, it is a very beautiful beach, with a collor of the sea more blue than Barra da Tijuca. Finally I debut my camera in OI Rio Pro was in heat 1 of Round 1...The first surfer that I filmed was our great champion "Gabriel Medina" - he was defeated in this heat in the Round 1 -the first battle of championship in Grumari ........
The Sea was with no good conditions... In Grumari , the wave formattion is so different of Barra, I filmed for while. During the first two days of competition in Grumari, the structure of Postinho in Barra da Tijuca was been rebuilded...And on the next day of competition, the contest would continue in Barra da Tijuca..
On the second day of competition, in Grumari beach I was still confused about how to use the zoom.
So I asked to Mr.Sebastian Rojas, a friend that I knew in 2008 in Rosa beach(SC)outstanding surfing photographer and he with his talent and generosity promptly gave the necessary orientations...Be close, far; and "take the wave". So on second day of competitions in Grumari, I filmed the Women's contest, and I was feeling better, more confident. On the last day of competition in Barra da tijuca, when was raining plenty, I found a tent to stay and worked straight way I took so much rain. Right after the dinner my tooth started bleeding on, so I got so preocupied because I have problems of coagulation,
During the night, I stayed in my room in the hotel, so quiet and slept. In the morning, after the shower the tooth bled more, but fortunately stopped. Than, early in the morning I went out to buy the newspapers with contents of 2016 Oi Rio Pro, did the posts and version on my blog and went back to RS by bus,and it was a long trip over 24 hours, because I had toothache all trip along.
As soon I arrived in my town I went straight to Dental clinic to make tooth treatment.
After X-ray, the Dentist -specialist in canal treatment - said that the toot was cracked, and not worth making canal treatment anymore. So I had to face another tooth "extraction".
Than, I was so worried, because I might have another hemorrhage, feel bad; I had strong toothache, I could not do anything with concentration. If I can not do the things well, I prefer give up.Than I decided take the blog and site down of the Internet Network for while. I also had the surfworldtour.com. domain since 2013.
John John Florence(HAW)defeated Jack Freestone(AUS) at Final and won the contest in Barra da Tijuca for the second time:

This time is so cold, strong winds, raining, sometimes stormy in the southern state of Brazil, RS.
As soon as I arrived home from Rio de Janeiro, I started to set up my stuff to the next trip..My luggage is always ready to travel. I was tired of long bus trips, so I rested for whille and my tooth ached.
JULY

In RS, during the Winter sometimes The Sun does not show up for days, or weeks.
The time was passing on, and I was so hurry about the future, should face another extraction, so I did other coagulation exam, and my doctor said that was better.So I went to a dentist so friend of my father, he asked me questions about my health and finally I booked the extraction to July 20th, day of "the friend".
I felt some good vibrations and faced the surgery. I went to the Dentist and he was so professional and everything was ok. Thanks God!!
AUGUST

This month was the worst for my state: strong raining, floods and many cities and families suffered
a lot.. I think my state is quite sad, grey, mainly in the Winter. My father traveled a lot and since I was a kid he used to take me with him to Porto Alegre, RS, the capital of our state; I always liked to travel around, to another cities, states, countries.
On August I was feeling better, I bought the airplane ticket of GOL arlines, and came to Olympic Games, for filming and praticing, and prepare a short video about because now Surf is Olympic sport, in the next Olympic Games, in Tokyo(JAP) in 2020.
SEPTEMBER

I filmed tha Paralympic games too, it was calmer; I like to filmed sports as triathlon, rowing, kayaking, and sailing- very beautiful sport, kind of surfing. I prepared a short video and posted on the blog . It was my first video in the Internet network.
Since I started work with surfing, I did everything by myself: took pictures, film the events, edit photos and videos, did the posts, the overviews and versions...
In the stage of Trestles in California, there was a discussion about the scores of G. Medina(BRA), in the Round against a Californian surfer. Many people said that G. Medina(BRA)deserved a better score in a wave, but did not received. This kind of thing may have disturbed a concentration of our great champion in the dispute for World Title.
After the stage OI Rio Pro,my blog was out of the Internet but I decided to let it "on" the Intenet again, did a post and explained what happened with my health.
OCTOBER

October is a month so strategic for World Championship of Surfing, because there are two events straight way, France and Portugal..Last year G. Medina(BRA)was the champion in France, and recovered himself in the battle for the title. But this time, unfortunately this season he was defeated in the Final by the Hawaiian Keanu Asing(HAW), but anyway he got right behind the Yellow jersey, the leader of Circuit, the Hawaiian John John Florence(HAW).
Than, there will not be Finals in Hawaii, if in the penultimate stage in Portugal:
- G. Medina(BRA)would be defeated in the Round 3;
- J.J. Florence(HAW)would dispute the Finals;
-J. Smith(RSA)would not dispute the Quarterfinals.
I thought to myself, that might happen one the results above, but the three together would be hard to believe. So I searched a cheap ticket to L.A(USA). on the Internet. I bought a ticket on a flight of December 5th, so I would arrive there Dec. 6th, and from the International Airport of L.A. I would buy a ticket to Honolulu(HAW) in some local companies, sometimes they had goods prices...
On a Sunday of October 16th, I left Rio de Janeiro(RJ) and went to São Paulo(SP), and caught the bus to Porto Alegre(RS) of 8 at night.. At 6 am , when we were arriving in Araçatuba(SC) highway junction, that goes to Garopaba(SC), and Rosa Beach(SC); all passengers were surprised with a big white truck, that was simply lying on the Freeway(BR101), but not destroyed, so I thought what's happened here??
When the bus arrived to Imbituba(SC), where I went to my first WCT -Hang Loose Pro SC in 2008, realized the devastation. On Sunday in late afternoon, a geological tsunami that occurred in caps of the Earth, not by the ocean, hit Imbituba(SC), Tubarão(SC). There was a sad scene : destroyed roofs, scared people, houses reached, I became so sad and took some photos inside the bus. Later on the Free-Way, a bus of same company stopped our bus, for tranfering the passengers that would go to Porto Alegre(RS), Sombrio(SC), Araranguá(SC), because there was no condiction for arriving in Tubarão(SC) Bus station. This bus line is São Paulo(SP)-Tubarão(SC) - Tubarão(SC)-Porto Alegre(RS).
Maybe was the saddest trip to RS , but as I used to travel a lot, I already faced different situations, kind of accidents, mechanic problems in the buses, delays in flights caused by the weather, aircraft controls cabin, subway lines problems, bomb threat in a train trip from Barcelon(SPA) to Paris(FRA)in Europe, and so on..
On the final of October, there was the Portugal stage, and what I supposed that will not be easy to happen: happened.!!!.
G. Medina was defeated in Round 3;
J. Smith(RSA)did not reach the Quarterfinals;
J. J. Florence(HAW)was the champion in Portugal; and clinched his first World Championship of Surfing...Before this Tyler Wright(AUS)also clinched the World Championship of Women's, this year was different..

I did the posts on the blog, the main newspaper of Porto Alegre, the capital of RS -"Zero Hora" of RBS group afilliated of Globo Network of Television of Rio de Janeiro(RJ) had a surfing article art about the World Title of surfing.-"O Novo Rei das Ondas"..So I did the version on the blog..John John Florence(HAW) was champion for deserving, he surfed very well this season, was in excellent shape, and won the 2016 OI Rio Pro;and had already won the 2012 Billabong Rio Pro.

I started to think better about my trip to L.A(USA). , and Honolulu(USA) because the event in Pipeline lost his importance, because the World circuit had a champion for antecipation, and it was so cold in L.A.(USA) this year. Than I called to the aircompany, and left my flight in "stand by", because I wanted to film a event in Hawaii, as a decision for World Title, as were the seasons of 2014 and 2015. But this sports by running points, sometimes the Champion is defined for antecipation, as in Formula One, we can not preview.
I was with my luggage and equipament ready to go to L.A.(USA) so I decided to come to Rio de Janeiro(RJ), to do some finals posts on the blog, and pass the Reveillon...
DECEMBER

Everything was ready, so I closed the house, check my equipment...My plan is to stay in Rio de Janeiro till May , the contest of World circuit of surfing, this year in Saquarema.
On the Dec. 19th I left Porto Alegre, at 8 pm ,by bus, because the air tickets were expensive in the
end of the year. It was a hot and long trip, but finally we arrived in São Paulo at 2:00 pm on the next day. The bus arrived in São Paulo(SP) Tiete terminal and soon I went to take a little car to put my luggage, and bought a ticket to Rio de Janeiro, by 1001 Bus Lines; I had a coffee and snack and rested for while from the longest trip POA-SAO; at 1001 Bus Lines VIP area.
At late night the 1001 bus lines left São Paulo and arrived on Dec. 21st. dawn in Rio de Janeiro, a trip of 6 hours with a single 30 minutes stop to have a break; I usually I got off the bus, went to toilete, had a snack and coffee. I have already done this route many times lately.
I arrived before the Christmas eve ... So I kept doing the posts on the blog, the last stage was been disputed in Pipeline, but the newspapers of Rio de Janeiro did not dedicated many space to the World Circuit of Surfing, because the title has already been defined in Portugal.
In May of 2017, the stage in Brazil will be disputed in Saquarema(RJ), considered the best beach for surfing in the country. During this almost 10 years of surfing, there were two cities involved in WCT, and now Saquarema(RJ)will be the third.
2008/2009/2010 : Praia da Vila , in Imbituba, (SC);
2011/2012/2013/2014/2015/2016: Arpoador, Barra da Tijuca, Grumari beaches, in Rio de Janeiro(RJ).
2017 : Saquarema(RJ)
I am so wondering about Saquarema, I intend to travel to there in Fall, it is close of Rio, around 56 miles - 90 km - 2 hours of bus trip.
I started with surfing in 2008 in Praia do Rosa, SC. In 2010 my blog was in the Internet world network and I had 20 accesses by month; nowadays my blog sometimes receive around 100 to 250 accesses a day, and ultrapassou 34,000 accesses.
So the Reveillon arrived, I went to Copacabana by the third time, but this transition 2016 to 2017,
seemed less exciting, less sponsors, the time of fires was reduced.
